The forbidden fruit in the bible...?

in #philosophy7 years ago

Just a quick status update today. Rather busy.
BUT.. I was checking my messages and saw a response to my post yesterday about Paul, Apollo, Apollyon, Apollonius.
And.. Apple.. I mentioned how some people believe the forbidden fruit was suppose to be an apple.
I tried connecting it to "Adam's apples" and things like that.

However.. A friend of mine mentioned something I wasn't aware of, she mentioned the forbidden fruit was associated with a vine..
She was thinking tomato, but.. The first thing that came to my mind was.. "wine" or "grapes".
I did a quick google search and.. Others also believe this.
Makes the most sense to me.. Alcohol can be a sacred thing, it can also be an enlightening thing, and it can be a dangerous or even deadly thing as well.

Wouldn't it make so much more sense.. If Adam and Eve like.. Found some old rotting or fermenting grapes..
Then ate a bunch of those and got drunk as fuck? Lol.
That makes alot more sense to me than an apple or just about any other fruit.
Are there fruits on Ayahuasca vines?
Just checked and it doesn't look like it? So it's probably not Ayahuasca.. But.. maybe? Ayahuasca is psychoative vines...

Here's a quote and then couple verses for context.

"In the timeless library of human myths and legends, perhaps none are more primal and disturbing than the biblical story of the Fall. Responsible for everything from the demonisation of women to the Church’s pious horror for nature, sex and the body, there is scarcely a life-hating ideology or barbaric practice it hasn’t been used to justify."

Genesis 2:16: And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die

(PS, I wonder if the dying meant "ego death")

Numbers 6:3 says He shall separate himself from wine and strong drink, and shall drink no vinegar of wine, or vinegar of strong drink, neither shall he drink any liquor of grapes, nor eat moist grapes, or dried. All the days of his separation shall he eat nothing that is made of the vine tree.

Matthew 26:26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament

Genesis 9:4: But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.

Acts 15:28: For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things; That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood.

Entiogenous is a word that has been associated with these psychoactive components.
Just read a quote that said.. "Entiogenous means gods inside us"
And the etymology does mean "from within" though I'm not sure where the God part comes in.. I need to do more research.

I've had a personal belief that many of these psychologically altering plants are sort of like a way to communicate with God.
I think they have a purpose and they communicate with us and tell us things and, that must come from the source right?
Whether it's right or wrong in it's message, it seems like it was designed to convey messages to us in certain ways.

Also I think this is a MAJOR reason why so many governments around the world want to ban certain drugs and plants.
This goes way back to ancient times where the kings and rulers would also partake in these substances but exclude them from the public.
Regular people were not allowed to partake in these communions with "God".

So.. Is that why the fruit was forbidden? Did the ancient peoples not want their peoples communicating with God?
Perhaps they wanted to retain that sacred knowledge to themselves and create a hierarchy of power or an offset control multiplier through the restriction of information?
interesting questions and possibilities..

Definitely seems like the people in power don't want people to really know God, they want them going to their indoctrination churches.. They don't want people ACTUALLY talking to God.. That's why all these plants are illegal I think.

Not cause they are dangerous. Fuck that stupid bullshit. The most toxic shit is legal, that's not an excuse.
When they ban cigs and all these pharmaceuticals that are way more deadly I'll consider that possibility.
But no. All these psychoactive drugs are not illegal cause the government cares about your health, they are terrified of what you will learn by consuming and using these plants in spiritual ways. -.-

(PS in regards to alcohol being legal and apparently being a way to talk to spirits makes me wonder.. But they did try to ban it for a while and, it's not nearly as enlightening as DMT or shrooms or those kinds of drugs.. I still think it's more of a slave drug, even though it does sort of help one connect with the spirit world. I just think certain drugs do that WAY more than othrs and those ones are WAY more illegal)

Okay.. That's enough for more, I hope to touch again on this subject soon cause I think I'm only scratching the surface and I feel like there's a lot more to learn.
Peace, and talk to you all later.

Sort:

the fruit is like an idol and we should go to God and not to our own lusts
