Is The Future Predetermined?

The future does not exist. However yet. Tomorrow does not exist yet. However, talks and discussions about tomorrow are not useless as they shape tomorrow. Thus, talks about the future, with regards to it being set by prior events and not randomly caused, is not a futile argument. It bears some intuitive and fascinating exchanges. However, the question I am asking is that is every single future choice and action made fixed?

Some may never consider the possibility that the future 'set'. What we do determines where we go and what occurs in the future. It depends on our actions. Every second, every diversion, each delay changes the future events and the path of your life.

In The Real World

Car crashes happen constantly and, looking at this logically if that individual had slept in longer in their bed or woke up before or some other event had happened, then the car crash would've never happened. It is the same to say some events occur to devastating incidents.

There have been many times that my mind changed, at the last moment, to something completely different and unpredictable, bringing about a difference in events in that day and possibly in the rest of my life. We do not do things according to a future that is set some would say.

"Do you believe that all events, occurring now, or occurring later in time, are caused by antecedent events?" Given the build-up to specific events, we can objectively demonstrate the existence of time and logical necessity of future happenings.

If we take this situation and I am to go outside to smoke a cigarette. I will do as such as a result of my nicotine dependence, because the weather is right, since I am in the mood for a cigarette, and so on. Nobody argues whether somebody can know entirely what the future will hold, that would require omniscience. However, that is not necessary for us to assume that antecedent events logically cause, in a chain.

Every future event turns into a past event that used to be the future, yet that does not mean that no one could have figured out the future. Things may help adjust to those synonymous results, however, I do not think everything can just be read and determined.

All when it comes back, it's the boomerang effect.

Deep subject... Made me remember the infamous Laplace Demon... and its counterpart, the Heisenberg's indeterminacy principle. Order in the chaos? Future will tell. Great article, greetings.

Thanks for your work as well! Followed @arckrai

Incompatibilism is the only coherent theistic view on free will and science is catching up to predetermined religious philosophies. We can only try and understand why we are making the choices we are making as all is set. Think of it like a DVD: the movie is already made, we are just the actors, and only God has the ability to 'pop in and out 'of the DVD. There may be multiple DVD's, though, all playing infinite movies. I know, I know, your ego is not going to like this one bit!

Life is built of the things we do. The only constructive material is positive action.
