Why is it that we treat our best friends better than we treat ourselves?
Heck, sometimes we even treat strangers with more kindness, respect and dignity that we hold for ourselves.
Where this comes from?
There are a plethora of reasons, all of which are down to the individual and their lifehistory and a gazillion other factors.
But I say, let's scrap that and be our own best friend.
Because seriously YOU deserves to be your own best friend.
You deserve to have your own needs come first.
You deserve to love yourself without judgment.
You deserve to be held in a high regard.
You deserve to be the sweet to yourself.
And if anyone tells you ANY different, tell 'em it's time they become their own best friend.
What do you do as a best friend?
You are kind and sweet to yourself.
You make a conscious effort that your needs are met.
You respect yourself for the living breathing human that you are.
You hold space for yourself to move through any and all emotions and feelings you may have.
You hug yourself without judgment.
You accept who you are with a softness to it.
You give yourself little surprise presents just because you are great.
You are just 'there' for yourself, no matter what.
You just love yourself for who you are!
Be your own best friend.
Be your own love.
Be your own you.
Here's to accepting and loving who you are.
Here's to being your own best friend.

So true, just understood how this is important not long ago. Self love is as important as all our basic needs, but we often forget about it. Love your positivity! Cheers.
Heey Bianca,
what made you realize this?
Lots of self help book and therapy! I sought answers to complete a blank space in my life, and only found it after loving myself. Isn't still my strongest suit, but working on it!
Thank you for this. What a nice treat. Hope you enjoy your weekend.
So true! And so hard... Thanks for an important reminder <3 And it's also hard to love others if you don't love yourself, so this message is double important:-)
Yesss Very true :)
Thank you for being here ladybug!
I totally agree. Self-love is at first place, only then one can love other human beings as well.
YIP! :)
Awwwww i def need to be a better friend to myself hehe
Yes, it is THE best!
Charity begins at home.
FOR SURE
We need to love ourselves before we can know the proper way to love others. Thanks @ashleykalila for those inspirational words.

Aw :') ¡Upvote!
so true, good use of images too!
Wise words Miss. So many folks prefer martyrdom and misunderstand the act of self love and care. Each of us must treat ourselves as number 1 before we are able to serve others. A broken wheel is of no use to man nor beast eh! Have a great day xox PS - I invite your thoughts on my latest post if you have time: https://steemit.com/spirituality/@ldacey-laforge/hindsight-is-indeed-a-wonderful-thing

Thank you @ashleykalila
sweet little poem
Thanks... Inspired by you.
I'm super bloody hard on myself, harder than anyone else ever could be. I project this a lot, too. I think other people are thinking about me the same way I think about myself. I've found this isn't actually true. I think I suck; other people think I rock. I convince myself they're a bunch of lying, manipulative bastards. I sabotage myself to bring "their" view of me in line with my own, which is actually just me being really shitty to myself. Sometimes I have to slow way, way down and remind myself to treat myself like I would any other human. This is harder than it seems like it would be. When my brain's being really mean, sometimes I tell it to STFU and to be nice... to me! Let's treat me like I would if I were 5. That works well. PB&J and candy, good. Stop being so mean to Berks, Berks. He's just a dude, man!!
Yea
I think treating yourself like you are own your best friend or seeing yourself as a child, really changes the way you treat yourself.
:)
Just followed you and it seems to me that you have a bright future on Planet Steem!
Get writing dear ;)
