Stoic thoughts

in #philosophy7 years ago

For those who don't know, stoicism is an ancient greek philosophy which also stands this day and was practiced by the great roman emperor Marcus Aurelius, who wrote a book called "Meditations" which contains the stoic thoughts of Marcus Aurelius about life and is the most well known books of stoicism.

There are also well known contemporary people who practice stoicism you might've heard of, like Tim Ferris or Ryan Holiday for example.

The main idea of this philosophy is don't try to control what is out of your control (e.g. peoples thoughts or feelings) but focus on what you can control(e.g. your own thoughts and feelings, duh :D).
It's really a lot to write about and I can't quite fit it in this post but over time you'll get the idea. But here's a link to a video made by The School of Life, which explains quite nicely.

Anyway I thought I might bring more awareness to the steemit community about stoicism, maybe it wil help some people out with their blog, or maybe even daily life.

If you've made it this far, thank you for reading the post.
