When we think of life first thing comes to mind is our own lives. Then we think of family, friends, relatives, community, and human life in general. Contemplating deeper we recognize life of animals and all of the creatures we can think of. Then our thoughts go to lives of plants and rest of the biological world.
If we dig deeper we can consider universe as a living entity on its own, constantly in motion, evolving through the passage of time. Just imagine for a second if time stopped and everything froze in time. No more animations, no more motions, complete stillness. There is no motion from the smallest molecules to the largest cosmic bodies. There is no thoughts, all brain activity stopped. Is this equal to nothingness? Does what seemed to be full resemble emptiness?
Isn't time the master of the universe? Master of life? Everything within the universe seems to depend on the other things, most importantly time. Time itself though doesn't depend on anything except Big Bang.
One of our great faculties as humans is our ability to imagine. Our imaginations lead to be creative, curious, inventive, and capable of learning and manipulating universal laws. Ou imaginations give us ability to create.
Before creation there is imagination
Many things humans have imagined have been brought into life. Because of them we can now explore the space, we can accumulate knowledge, share with each other and pass it on to the next generations. Technological achievements and innovations of our age are the great examples of this phenomenon.
One thing we have imagined a lot, but yet no able to reach the ability of manipulation is TIME. We have imagined of time machines and time travels. Yet this seems to be the one thing that will only remain in our imaginations.
We reflect on our lives often times. How often we reflect on time? Time is what makes our lives possible. From the moment our hearts start beating, our internal clock starts ticking. Tick tock tick tock. We swim through the phases of lives occupied with learning, accumulating wealth, making friends, starting families, creating companies, making careers, so consumed with worldly affairs. Time is ticking.
We contemplate about past, wish we could have done better at certain things, proud of other achievements. How about we jump forward in time in our imaginations and ask future selves what we regret and what we are proud of the present. Would that make us use our time more wisely? or would that put in dispair?
What do you think of time? Have you looked at your life through the prism of time?
good reflection about our being in this world.
nice post @deserttee.
i resteemed your article.
Very interesting and thought provoking article. I agree with your accessment that all that exists were first imagined. I think it could be inferred that imagination itself exists outside of time and when we take the dream into a physical action, it enters the timeline of humanity. Thanks for the post : )
