Why you should not prove others wrong directly.

in #philosophy7 years ago (edited)

Why should you not prove others wrong directly? No matter what you do, you cannot prove someone wrong because they have already formed their whole personality and sense of self based on this, and if they admit that they are wrong, it means a part of them is dying, this applies to everyone, even you and me. The harder that you try to prove them wrong, the more that they will strengthen their position as it is their sense of self which is being threatened and challenged. The feeling you get to prove somebody wrong is also your ego. Only a person with a very fluid personality will be able to handle it. He will not even try to prove that he is right and he will also readily admit when he is wrong on something, but the ironic thing is that often times people view this as an sign of weakness, but in reality it is one of the greatest strengths an person can have. Now, how do you combat this? What should you do? Instead of saying "No, you are wrong, this is what is correct." You can say instead say "I think that there are also other things to be considered." No matter what, you do not need the approval of others, not even society's approval when you are doing something that you have the passion for. Do not be the slave of external situations and be shackled by such obstacles.
