“Sweet ass; compliment or insult?”

in #philosophy8 years ago

Hey guys, just wondering what you think about the remark: “ you’ve got a sweet ass.”

Scenario:

Two people standing somewhere waiting for something. The place could be anywhere. They do not know each other at all.
The one says to the other: “you’ve got a sweet ass.”
(One to another referring to: Man to woman/Woman to man/Woman to woman/Man to man)

In what scenario can this remark be considered as a compliment or an insult and based on what standards regarding gender?

Hope to get your insights ;)

Man to woman: he's trying to flirt and compliment her butt, which depending on the context is kind of inappropriate. Woman to man: probably same. I don't see myself saying that to a guy unless I was really drunk or really comfortable and it would probably be in a flirtatious and joking way. Woman to woman: might be an odd form of compliment. Man to man: definitely rare, probably odd and uncomfortable comment to receive.

kkkk, thanks for the feedback @sarahtops9000, I put it out there because it could also be possible (from man to woman) that it really just is a compliment (a very 'loose' compliment ofcourse), with no meaning at all. But like you also commented "depending on the context", in which case it just could be chill and okay...

I think in any situation any person sees it as a compliment but the initial reaction should be how they are programmed to react.

Hmm... the conditioned mind sets before the natural flow does... possible.
