Excellent content! While I study Gnosticism and enjoyed quite a few of these movies I had not thought of the connection. The one's I haven't seen are definitely going on the to watch list.

I followed you and look forward to checking out your posts. Glad you got something out of mine. Which of these movies were your favorite? Did I miss any? Maybe you know a gnostic themed film that I haven't seen.
I did just join, only found out about steem right before I signed up and I am still learning the ropes. Equilibrium and the Matrix Trilogy are on my rewatch any time list but almost the whole set are movies I would recommend, especially the classics Logan's Run, They Live and Total Recall. I feel like I want to go on a movie marathon to rewatch them all. I remember Vanilla Sky and Dark City were very intense but I saw each only once. I will review my current rewatch any time list for possible other examples. I will let you know what I find. I feel like movies are the perfect storytelling medium to convey deeper allegorical themes.

I still haven't seen the original Spanish movie, "Abre los ojos," but I've heard it's just as good or even better.
I've seen most of these. I'll have to check out the few I haven't seen. Dark City is one of my all time favourite films. Quite a trip!

Pleasantville, Equilibrium and The Thirteenth Floor are the three I haven't seen. Have you seen The Frame? It also fits in its own weird kind of way. I also didn't seen the two mentions The Island and Zardoz. So I could call it five I need to see...

What a great idea for a list! I'm a hardcore cinephile so I've seen all of them except The 13th Floor (I'm on it now, haha) and I love a lot of these. Keep up the good work, you got my follow.

It's hard to choose a favorites among this list because each movie is special on its own. The movie which effected me most was the matrix and dark city.
If i suggest similar movie them then it would be " waking life" & west world

Thanks again! Dark City has to be my personal favorite, although 13th Floor has a scene which really stuck with me. To this day I have flashes of it that continue to make me question the nature of reality. Good call on mentioning Waking Life and West World! Those are both excellent movies with gnostic themes. I must have seen Waking Life about 15 times. The new tv series based on the West World novel is also quite good. Have you seen it?
