Just a short thought
"What about getting off the internet for a while?"
I know this is a typical thing you heard from just too many people. But as I read many posts in which people describe the vast amount of information they keep letting in I realized this is a real issue.
Being just with yourself.
I don't like it either, mainly in stressing situations, I tend to run away from my own thoughts and judgments by always listening to, watching or reading something on the Internet. It's only running away from the reality and it never solves anything.
Even if I feel really productive and onto something I really appreciate the possibility to step out from what I'm doing at the moment and just think it over. This never happens if I never leave me alone. If I need to come up with something, than it is absolutely critical to let my mind wander. I don't think I ever came up with any idea by looking into the screen, I always need at least to look out of the window to unlock my mind towards free thinking.
Even if I read about some great idea on the internet it has to be followed by an off screen moment. The best method for me to digest it is to stare for a while into nowhere, watch a wall, close my eyes.
That's why I believe we should cherish those "free moments" where nothing is coming in and we only do the easy stuff such as cooking, eating, walking, sitting over a coffee. I always feel very strong and free after I manage to be offline and I recommend it to anyone who spends just too much time on the screen.
Here is a small teaser...
