What's special about this yogurt?

in #philosophy5 years ago (edited)

We all know how fantastic is Greek yogurt!

^^
And this particular one is made from sheep's milk. Therefore it is less likely to come from animals fed with grownth hormones or other nasties. A more or less natural product increasingly hard to find in the plastic fantastic world - inside of which we seem incresingly trapped :-)

But honestly, to me what makes it so special is the container!

Do you see what I mean?

The yogurt doesn't come wrapped in future landfill

The sight of which nauseates my sensibilities

Nope,

I get my yogurt in beautiful fired clay bowls.

The big ones make fabulous soup bowls when empty

and the small ones are perfect for tea!

After all, I spent 6 years in villages in the Himalayas

I am so proud of you! You are actually Greek now.the next step is to make it yourself!!!😁😁😁

Sheep yogurt is the best btw...

Sheep yogurt is the best, true. But I prefer goat milk for my kefir.

I used to make my own yogurt in the Himalayas. The nomad bufflo herders took their buffalos up to the high mountain pastures during the summers and would come down every day with gerry cans full of buffalo milk. I would buy up their whole daily production, make yogurt from it in huge large clay saucers and sell it in tea shops to travellers.

But there is no going back to the old paradigm (which also had its problems anyway). We can move forward to a new paradigm.

Kefir is great..! you cultivate it yourself?

No, I am not set up for anything like that. In fact, very few of my plans for what I thought my life would be like in Greece worked out. Plan B's and PlanC's are in order :-)

My parents have a lot of those bowls there in Athens :) and I tasted this yogurt many times :) It's tick and special :) We don't have such ceramic packing for our yogurt in Bulgaria, but you can have a good branded glass jar here and there...
I didn't know you lived in the Himalayas, but I felt you're one of the enlightened around :)
Personally I recycle all of my garbage since the yearly 2000's...
Composting, disassembling machines for scrap, some of them using for making my own tools...
AND YES... I've noticed there is a lot more plastic around... even in my junk :)
Due to low cost I drink my favorite beer from a plastic tube.... We donate the caps etc... some are awakening to the fact that everything is stuff and it's made from stuff or indirectly from natural resources...
You in Greece are now banning plastic... as I've seen somewhere...
BUT YEAH.... plastic could be made from hemp very cheaply and easier than petrol one...
We have some project funding for Bulgaria for using new type of organically disposable papers for advertising (without any plastic or chemicals inside)...
So let's see ... time ran up...
WE IN SURVIVAL MODE :(

Survival mode now....but you and I are shifting to "thrive" mode!

Agreed! ;)

a little honey and nuts is what you need from above the yogurt.... :)))

I've tried being nuts - but no positive outcomes. Maybe you are right about honey though. I've heard the saying that you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar :-)

I wish there were !

Plastic food containers..... ugh !

Made out of sheep's milk. Sounds delicious. Yeah the containers could be used for tea or soup. OR you could put flowers in them too...or store more yogurt in them. Best to you.

I need some good ideas on what to do with them because I am starting to get so many now. But even if I end up having to throw some away, they are a hell of a lot more bio degradable than plastic :-)

Put some pretty flowers in each as starters and sell them.

Oh! I could use them for cultivating Bonsai trees! What a fabulous idea!

bonsai2.jpg

yeah! exactly

We have the best yoghurt!

Maybe. But you haven't tried the Himalayan stuff, so you don't know for sure :-)

@onceuponatime,
We call them curd in my country! Yeah a nice eco friend mode!

Now that's adds another interesting reason to try that special yogurt !

As if we needed more reasons :-)

i never tried that yogurt i think it's healthy and something sour. am i right on the taste? Is that drum madenof clay?

You were born right - and it's only been getting better :-)
Yes, sour. Yes, clay.

we are all born right😊,that was an amazing idea putting to a clay pot.

Indeed, those clay bowls are very useful !!

They are beautiful too. I am starting to have too many of them. Want some?

I haven't seen clay bowls for yogurt yet but here in France they use glass containers. It's way better then the plastic ones that I'm used to in Canada. No excess garbage

There is something about plastic that I wish would go away :-)

You are very kind!
