 What If 'Her' Was Real?

"You know what's Interesting? I used to be..so worried about not having a body, but now I.. I truly love it." - Samantha

Perfect Love?

In the near future many concepts will be called into question, as a result of technology, but I never thought that Love would be one of those concepts questioned. Initially, love is between human beings. However, the film Her explored love in a way that showed that a human and an AI program could potentially create love.

The relationship depicted within Her prompts very intriguing issues. One of the issues that astonishes me is the idea of perfect love. If an AI system is programmed to love a human in the best algorithmic way possible, then would we perceive this love as perfect? Moreover, would humankind come to a point when they prefer the love offered by an AI program over each other? These are serious topics to contemplate, as Her may become a reality for us all.

Why change love?

During the film Her there are many scenes where Theodore, the main character, can be seen in a dejected, hopeless state. This proves to be quite contradictory as Theodore has a stable job, a nice studio flat, and a relatively easy life. So why does he seem so sad all time? Consequently, Theodore finds love with an AI program. But why?

Well, since the 21st century began, human beings have grown to become more hostile and less friendly, so human interaction is on the decline. This also explains why people spend more time with their smartphone than actually interacting with each other. So it's very obvious why someone like Theodore would choose to love an AI program instead of an actual human being.

Did you ever express your love by saying to the other person “ I worship you”? It happen that I hust commented to someone else the following Like to paste here:
"@cleaverbot is a program and it is as smart as its creator spending time coding it. Just happen to think now about this: Why human nowadays is possessed with A.I.? Is that the same reason why god created us human in his image (if Bible is truly from God)? Anyway, cleaverbot looks for key words and phrases to match its database. Like this “what is your name?” very common question. Answer “cleaverbot. If you ask it like this: if people like to call you what should they say? Answer “ I have no idea what are you talking about” meaning I found no match on my database. It will never learn the concepts of the words. And join more than one concept (word) together to come up with new one. This our essence as human. And A.I. will never understand it. Likewise we will never comprehend GOD." I like to add Is not what God want"worship = love"?

I don’t see much logical conclusions in your comment so I’m just going to use an alternative technology that was previously unheard of and unrealistic to imagine to show how this reasoning would sound in the alternative situation sometimes 10 years ago:

“Nokia 3200 is a phone and it is as smart as its creator spending time coding it. Just happen to think now about this: Why human nowadays is possessed with Iphone X? Is that the same reason why god created us human in his image (if Bible is truly from God)? Anyway, Nokia has a game ‘Bounce' and a calculator. You can use it to make calls with other people and pretend you’re talking to a robot but it will be still another person on the line. You can’t make it speak to you and ask for voice commands or face recognition. This our essence as human. We can recognize faces of other people and other’s people voices and voice commands and multistep-commands (often referred to as sentences or dialogues) and iPhone X will never understand it. Likewise we will never comprehend GOD."

Greeting @momentocat, what you just did is exactly robotic. Replacing words for others trying to make a counter point to one that does not exist, you missed the concept behind my comment. Machine can recognize your face and say “Hi momentocat” and recognize my face and says “Hi Jon”. Now if you were that machine you might add to your database “theclear= Jon”. But you as human can say to yourself theclear is tricking me to think his name is Jon. If I were to be the machine reading you your comment, I will say to you: yes Nokia is very nice and smart phone as a mother of iPhone X. But me as human I can assume that you thought I am trying to prove the existence of God by giving such example. You see, the machine can get so advance and it can recognize your face even when you are crying. And it might say “I am sorry about what happened to you.” And you might say “No I am so happy that I could not help it but to cry.” But if were to look at you I will know that. Even if the machine get even more advanced and recognize that you are crying because you are happy, my original point is why we are captivated in making such a machine. Are we trying to be God like? Because answering this question can lead to more questions, philosophical one that is. I hope this time I expressed my words right. Thanks for commenting.

The thought process of every human is a set of algorithms anyway. Our body is a computer. Our consciousness is the result of it. I explored it further in my full comment under this post. My mind recognizes the face and executes the algorithm connected to the results of this recognition.

By giving things new names will not mean we understand it. I can argue the same way; If I believe in God that God Is the processor of the joint computer called universe all what he has to do is change the data set (Information) (God words) and then it is there. Delete the data of anything and it is gone. I agree with you that We humane like a sophisticated computer. And we are improving by the day in our technology. BUT we have very very long way to go. The best A.I. we have until now will not compete with a mosquito. And I don’t think mosquitoes have feelings, conscious, morals, ethics or imaginations.
To come to a conclusion I can say this: Human sets on the top of the creation pyramid. Yet we are born the least knowing about what to do to survive. The only thing we know is sucking. The less intelligent the species the more built in survival knowledge it has at birth. I would expect evolution to do the opposite. I am not saying evolution is right or wrong . We have a lot to learn still. Cheer.

one of my favourite movie.

This movie when I saw, I liked a lot because show one of the big problem of the society. ¿How we show the love?

I believe the love from an AI could teach us how to love one another better, but because there are things a human can do but computer cannot, I would hope it's a tool not a replacement
