RE: The price of collection

in #philosophy7 years ago

I never thought of myself as a collector, but reading this, I realize I am a collector of experiences.

Examples would include seeing Phil Collins perform "In the Air Tonight" at the Albert Hall, seeing Leonard Cohen perform "Hallelujah" at the Manchester Opera House, seeing Monty Python play the O2 Arena, seeing Shirley Bassey sing "Goldfinger," seeing Benedict Cumberbatch play Frankenstein opposite Johnny Lee Miller as the Monster at the National Theatre, seeing Hamilton at the Victoria Place Theatre. The list goes on and on, the product of a lack of thriftiness and fore-planning, an instant need for gratification.

Those experiences have gone now, borne back ceaselessly into the past, as F Scott Fitzgerald would have it, but the addiction for more experiences remains.

Ultimately, those experiences were only worth it as long as I keep my head above water financially, otherwise I will surely come to regret them. So I think it's time, like you, to make like a beaver, and build a dam of Steem lol!
