Revenge can never be satisfying, no matter how cruel the inflicted pain upon the target. I recall the poignant scene in the Iliad, when having ripped Hektor's throat open, Achilles ties the carcass to his chariot to drag around because Achilles' fury could not be assuaged. We can clone a thousand, tens of thousands, of the target of our intended vengeance to repeatedly kill, maim, and torture; and it would not be enough because the kills and pains do not grant what we truly want - resurrection of our lost love. All vengeance are hollow.
