RE: Faking the senses

in #philosophy7 years ago

"Making things into a game is a fantastic way to learn, but if the game doesn't build any actual skills, it can suck a mind and body into a cycle of false sense of achievement and no growth. "

"Funnily enough though, they all feel like they will achieve great things and change the world. They will change the world greatly most likely, it won't be for the better at this rate."

"It is a massive machine that drops our faculties and forever ties us to a reliance on others for our products and services as we do not have the skills to produce our own. It is a centralised brainwashing and we are walking into it not only willingly, we think it is an achievement. "

No truer words spoken.

I took these quotations so the "TL:DR" people get what they are missing out on.
Nicely written. I've thought about the same things. Most entertainment is without any "real" reward. You'll end up stupider and you'll never get that wasted time back.
As for games and series and such, they are all like literature, but they are dominated by that "entertainment first" aspect, to get people hooked. I thoroughly enjoy movies and even a very few games that actually teach the viewers something.

resteemed!

Thank you, it really is very appreciated. I think the TL:DR crowd have learned to go nowhere near me :)

As said, I don't mind some entertainment but these days people think that it is the endgame. There is so much more to this life than burying a head into a trough of pre-digested trash.

It is a lot of work to fight it though. It is very attractive. My trick is to not buy a computer that can run the latest FPS. I was a Ghost Recon/ Battlefield addict but went cold turkey. Actually, since being on Steemit, I have not watched much TV and we go to the movies if we want to watch. it is an experience then,

:) lol

I used to play a lot of CS. (and Cod and BF and etc...)
Now I don't play anything anymore.
Took me several times of uninstalling all games because on some days I'd just install something, because "what's the harm?".

"What's the harm?" Ithink that is where genocides start :D

lol :D
You know, every genocide started with someone getting out of bed = don't get out of bed to avoid genocide.
