if they do good, then why do they have to be secret? most of the terrorist groups are secretive to some degree, and if someone wants to 'buy' your loyalty - most of the time s/he is bad news. I don't know how much of it's true, but I have heard that they deal with secret knowledge that only shared among the society in order to dominate the rest of the world - how can that be good? - Moreover, selling your loyalty for money is selling your honor - you should never do that.

However.. We have examples of secrecy that were noble like the underground slave railroad and resistance in WW2 or other wars. But I think those examples are few and far between..
