What will be, will be: The only path forward

in #philosophy7 years ago (edited)

Unless something interferes, we are all going to get old and pass away. For many this realization is met with fear and sadness and raises many questions in the mind. For as long as we have likely been aware of ourselves, we have wondered what lies beyond and as a result, the creative mind has imagined all manner of possibilities. Very few want to entertain the idea that there is nothing as nothing itself is unimaginable, it cannot be thought about, the concept cannot be truly grasped.

Most entertain themselves with variations of gods and heavens and hells or reborn again in a different form. They set up complex systems and religions to support their imagination and the creations they have developed over time, on-boarded with little reflection nor investigation into alternatives. They say I know what my god wants from me and perhaps they do but, I question anyone who thinks they know the will of a god.

I keep it much simpler, What does it matter? is my view. If there is a god or no, the path is the same. If there is an afterlife or a hard end, the path is the same. If I am enlightened or not, the path is the same. Since there is no opportunity to actually get information that proves or disproves any position, the path is the same.

What is that path? For me it is simple. Do the best I can and continually look to improve that position. This covers everything. It is the way I move, the words I say, the articles I write. It is what I give in each moment and how much value I can bring to the world. There will be mistakes and missteps, much to discover and learn along the way and at times I will have to admit a poor position and course correct. But, the path is the same.

My reasoning is simple.

If there is no god, no afterlife, then I would have lived a full and meaningful life and done my utmost to make experiences valuable for myself and those I interact with and in so doing, eased as much suffering as possible. I would close my eyes knowing there was no more I could do. If past this point, my eyes again open, perhaps I may stand before a god. If this is what is to be, what more could it possibly ask of a simple man but for him to do all he can to be all he can, for all he can?

One need not be taught right from wrong to discover truth, need not read doctrine to have morals, need not bow down to an unknown to be good. People talk of freewill, there may be none. The path is already set, the end point as best as we can know ultimate, our eyes will shut. It does not matter what is beyond that point, the only thing of importance is what we do as we approach it.

Good Post! Current scenario will define about future scenarios, therefore we should do only best things in present scenario.

I love this ! Congratulations. Upvoted and resteemed and most definitely following you =)

Dear Taraz,
What we don’t know, we don’t know. You apparently are in acceptance of what is, including what you see as your life. Should this stance give you peace, I would say that you are quite fortunate. You would be the envy of many of our fellow humans. Evident from your thoughts, however, is the seeming attitude that life is what the world unfolds for you regardless of gods that might be. Of course, you said nonetheless that you would strive to do that which you believe is good not only for yourself but for others, as well.

I have posted a write up on this topic on my blog. May I interpose herein something I encountered on the internet that you might want to look into. This is a conclusion from experiments lately that reality of humans accordingly is a product of emotions and feelings and not thoughts, ideas or any other human attributes. Reference: https://www.lifecoachcode.com/…/…/26/emotion-shapes-reality/. Consequently, this translates into a further conclusion that man is the creator and is solely responsible for his own reality.

Great post!
I really like your writing man :)

You should check my last post, I think you will like it ^^
Here's a preview to the related topic:
"There are many religions in the world, each has a different religious story with base ideals and rules, each has thousands - millions of followers, but they cant all be right... Yet, each believer is sure that his religion is the right one! He will argue for that and wont accept other Ideas. "

@paps

I like the post and agree with what you are saying. I have recently been taking it a step further by looking at what this "me" is and asking myself what is beyond the usual descriptors such as occupation, gender, nationality and so on. The deeper I dig the less I find. Once the "I" is found to be untrue so are additional concepts like "other" and the concept of "oneness" arises. Also, the idea of creating a better "me" as I begin to see that the idea of "me " or "I" does not really exist.

Great, powerful and conscious post with a kickass lucid & logical message from a heightened perspective and point of view my friend.

I'm gonna keep this comment short. Because I plan to publish a post in these next days, kind of pointing out a few things about this same subject in spanish. Especially for those who share my own tongue. But yeah, of course. Always written in my own cryptic babbling style and usually weird & extravagant Sense Of Humor.

So be prepared to ride and tame soon that savage colt they call Google Translator. }:)

Meanwhile, this post is ¡Upvoted & Resteemed! to acclimate to my humble audience and my handful of followers on this topic.

Cheers!! :)

EDIT: Part I of my spanish post to trigger your curiosity and give you the chance to try tame that savage colt. I hope you like it!! :)Here it is my dear friend @tarazkp. The
