Smart Phones - Really!

in #phones8 years ago

Being a Techno Freak myself and as such owning a wide variety of gizmo's and gadgets (too many to list), I should perhaps be more sympathetic to those in society who seem to be permanently and maybe emotionally attached to their mobile "SMART" phones.

What makes a Mobile Phone a "Smart Phone?"

You can download many different and mostly "Free" mini programs or "Apps" to create a personalised mini computer that contains all the tools that you find useful to have.

G.P.S.
Originally used by drivers to plan a route without having to mess around with maps or long lists of directions G.P.S. is is now possible for pedestrians as well as drivers.
This now seems to be a well used App, with large numbers of people finding it difficult to find their way anywhere, without holding a mobile phone in front of their face/s. It would seem that a companion App

H.T.M.(Free) or "How To Move" (Beta) (Pro Version includes how to do it quicker (Running))
This App shows the user/s how to put one foot in front of the other (previously known as walking) is gaining popularity, although it may be in beta stage or subject to frequent "Buffering" which causes the user/s to suddenly stop in front of me and everyone else for no apparent reason.
After some seconds of staring at the screen, normal service is restored and movement is once again possible.

Social Media
This is the modern equivalent of "Breathing" Failure to alert all of society of every single drab and dreary moment of their day will cast them into social oblivion and death by "unfriending"
The GPS and HTM Apps are apparently, not as yet fully compatible with Social Media Apps which is probably why you will see individuals (or small groups), standing still, apart from the frantic movement of eager fingers on tiny keyboards telling all and sundry "I have arrived at the High Street", or some such drivel, "Please Like and Share"

Long Distance Calls
There was a time (I was alive then), when a "Long distance call" referred to a phone call that was made and received by people who were a great distance apart.
Nowadays, a long distance call is when you call someone as soon as you leave the house and continue to converse for the entire time it takes you to reach your destination during which time you have literally walked a "Long Distance"

Hands Free Headphones
A way of using your phone to converse with others without having to actually hold the phone in your hand.
Perfect, I hear you say. Is it really possible?
Would you believe me if I was to say "NO!"
The theory behind this "Hands Free Tech" is basically sound. (No pun intended). Alas, in practice it seems you need to hold the phone in one hand and at the same time use the other hand to hold the "Hands Free Microphone" under your bottom lip (near your mouth). You are then "Free" to converse on the phone.

Quick Recap

Mobile Phone Users (in general)
Must have the phone in their hand (if not up in front of their face) at all times as they can not navigate or indeed walk anywhere without one
While walking, they will talk very loudly so that you can hear all about how exciting, interesting and full of drama adventure and excitement their lives are (not)
Will suddenly stop in front of you, or already be blocking your path before you even get there. Please do not have a go at them as they are either just being "social" or are wondering how they are going to carry any shopping around as they need both hands free to use the "Hands Free" feature!

Take it on the Chin
No, really! That is the low tech solution to a high tech problem!
Forget about the G.P.S. the H.T.M. the Social Media and the Hands Free Kit. Just jam the phone between your chin and your shoulder and then you can still have the phone near your face while you walk, talk and carry multiple shopping bags in your two "Free Hands"

Do you feel that mobile phone users are annoying or just a nuisance?
Are you constantly on you phone and think that I am going a bit mental about the whole issue?

Reply with your opinion, let's see how this one pans out.

I prefer smart people over smart phones! But sadly the "smart phones" are draining the peeps of their smarts.
