In our region (Belgium) our sky's are so much polluted with light.
When using longer exposures the sky just turns plain orange. The cause is from artificial lights like city's nearby, highway's ... and so on. Conclusion is that our nice dark sky is just gone... I remember in late 80's the Milky Way was visible with my eyesight only...
When our family had a short stay in Germany @ very close by the border of Belgium, i did lookup where i could find the most darkest area's nearby. This was a smaller city named Pronsfeld that showed very dark spots in that region when looking @ night sattelite images. It was only a 30min. drive for our stay. Just great!
I was lucky to have very clear weather during the night. Very good to make some images from that sky with maybe a visible Milky Way.
It was exciting riding during the night into unkown territory searching for a good spot. But i found one. Not the best spot but it was ok for that time and i felt eager to try. I parked my car and made my setup ready.
Photographing the Milky way is easy. You need a long exposure. 15 seconds (depends on how the many mm. lens you have) and a higher iso like +2000 do the trick. Off course a bright sky with no moon is the best recipe for making those images.
I am happy with this first attempt !
One can see many wonderful and awesome images appearing from those MIlky Way sky's. Most of them are 2 images blended where you can see a beautiful foreground with a pasted Milky Way sky on top.
Maybe one time we will be visiting a foreing country with super clear dark sky's or a country with the higher mountains regions where i maybe can retry this again.... Who knows?
Thank you for reading/watching.
Have a great week !
ummmmmm guess where I live :)
in a high mountain... and NO light pollution.
i think it's time for a field trip for Olivier and his family to visit dreemsteem hahahahahahaha
come come come!!! :) you wouldn't believe what my skies look like at night - oh my goodness. every star in the sky is visible with the naked eye.
your camera will think it went to heaven hehehehe
oh this picture makes me want to cry its so beautiful!!!!
You are kidding :) hehe. hmm. I think dreemsteem is very fortunate to live in a region with many untamed and wild nature around her. I'm starting to get a bit jealous now.
i should travel more.....
Amazing shot 👏
Thanks so much Saimegh.
This looks so professional! And so dreamy.... and all for free right over our heads, every night (and day!).
In our region the best time to witness the Milky Way is during summertime.
Then we can see just a little piece from the most beautiful part from that MW.
The most beautiful sky's are @ the Southern hemisphere. During winter just a very small and not bright part is visible. :) Thx so much for your comment S.
