I have been working on a post for months, but the summer is here and it's finally time to show them off. I have been visiting the desert taking photos of all the flowers that have sprouted thanks to the monsoon rains.
Most desert beauties come in small sizes. Most I say, because it's very hard to miss the magnificent saguaros that can grow as tall as buildings out here. Even so, I pay special attention to the small things out here in the desert. I find the smallest of plants to be the most appealing. I wish I had a great lens to capture them better, I want to get ridiculously close so that I can capture all the little details that make them so beautiful. Until that day comes, I must do my best with what I have.
Here they are, this summer’s beauties.
“Brittlebush, the little sunflowers of the Arizona desert.“
Keep in mind that the majority of these photos are smaller than a dime and many of them even smaller than a grain of rice.
These for example, the flower is about the size of a grain of rice yet such a beauty.
Spanish Needles
Desert Lavenders ~ How much I wish I could share with you their delightful scent as well. The bees cannot be wrong, of all the flowers out there, these seemed to be their favorites to collect from.
To be continued...
