The Convergence Of Physical And Virtual Worlds - Long Exposure Camera Rotation LightPainting.

Good Morning :)

Another Camera Rotation Photograph from me today, it’s a technique i’ve been incorporating in my light-paintings for nearly 8 years now which is super crazy to think about.

Anyway this is from the slopes of the electric mountain, Snowdonia, Wales.

Myself and Phil made our way to the gallery and these abandoned quarrymen’s houses, as we had photographed there before and I had this shot in mind upon our return.

Whilst Phil played with his Drone, I set up the light stand behind where I would get Phil to model and set up my camera.

Once I was ready, and focus was locked in, Phil took up his position and I started the exposure.

I lit behind Phil with the Klarus torch and then came back to the camera and rotated the scene, the aim was to create a darker space in the center that could possibly look like a dimensional gate, something that a Time Traveller may step out through.

I was pretty happy when this came up on the back of the screen once I had stopped the exposure.

We then set about trying different versions including some with lasers, but the original concept I think worked out best for me.

A few pleasant hours spent up the mountain, enjoying the full moon and the mostly clear skies and the laughter that myself and Phil shared made it a very memorable experience.

I always love shooting on a full moon and don’t really do enough of it unfortunately, it always creates something magical with the light and especially with Long Exposures it almost looks like daylight, something that isn’t really possible with any other conditions.

Straight out of the camera,Raw Conversion.

8 years. Wow. No wonder you've got it nailed down so well. Great stuff.

Yeah nearly 8, it’s mad where the time goes, only realised when I was looking back through my stream. I think theres always more to learn mate.
I should take a leaf out of your page (no pun intended) and give off center rotations a bit more practise, I’ve had a mess around a while back but didn’t really do much with it

You should mate and that's funny. I did one a while back too but didn't think at the time it could be expanded upon. I gave the vertical planes an off set recently with very limited success.
