This weekend we decided that we need some stress relief and what is the better way than with our bikes? So we packed our stuff on Saturday morning, and hey ho let's go. Our destination was Petzen. I was already writing about this mountain but I'm still surprised how many new things you can see there.
Every now and then, I need to take my bike and go…just go. I was never a fan of a cyclin, but then I meet my husband and he introduced me to downhill biking. I didn't know before that you can experience so much adrenaline in one day. You don't have time to think of other things than to reach your destination safely, and if you have so much thing on your mind is this the perfect way to forget everything for some time and just drive.
Before we left, we checked our bikes if everything was OK, and of course, something went wrong. Forks on my bike were broken and I didn’t see that before?! What are we going to do now? We already packed our stuff and our friends were waiting for us and I really wanted to go. So, I took a phone and started to call around if I can borrow a bike from anyone. I had luck, my friend was so kind that she lent it to me, so we stopped there, took a bike and our adventure has begun. The weather was perfect and it wasn't so hot and that means we won't die from heat :) We prepared our bikes and gears and headed on a mountain, but we forgot to exercise for a bit because we all had only one thought in our heads, getting down the hill as soon as possible. 10 km of pure adrenalin. We've already bet in the morning that whoever falls first will pay for the drinks. Best bet ever, because I wasn’t the first one 😉
I have to say that I made a lot of miles on this track with my enduro bike, so I didn't get too nervous to not reach the finish line. You decide for enduro bike if you like to go downhill on incredible slopes with full speed, no matter what the route looks like. With them, no rock, root or jump will be too much of an obstacle. So, I was pretty confident that it would be the same with this bike. But I forgot something. I had an enduro bike, and this one was a hardtail bike. This was my first ride on a hardtail bike and I wasn't ready for it. Hard-backed mountain bikes, called hardtail bikes, allow you to ride on rough terrain because this is a bike that has no rear shock and is equipped with either front suspension or rigid forks. But you know what? For this bike, you need a lot of energy and strength, and I really mean a lot. They are lighter and simpler, but you feel every bump and every stone, and if your hands are not strong enough, this can be a problem. And it was.
After the second ride, I was so tired that I thought that I won't be able to ride down the track again, but my friend was so kind that he lent me his bike for one round. This was a perfect ride. I was riding down the hill like crazy, without feeling anything and without the fall! But of course, it was hard for him to ride my bike because it was also his first time on a hardtail bike, so we switch back.
I was determined to go one more round to prove myself that I can do it. I did it. Unfortunately, I can't move now, my legs and arms hurt, and I can't move my fingers because you need to break a lot. But I finish it with a big smile on my face (that was the only thing that it was possible to move) 😊 40 km of pure adrenaline and fun. 3 runs with a hardtail bike and one with enduro - just crazy :)
And just so you know, the Flow Country Trail is the longest flow trail in Europe and it also offers wide-ranging single trails and one Pump & Dirt training grounds and here you can also find tunnels for bikes within the Petzen mountain range. The course is suitable for experienced and inexperienced bikers. You can descend through turns, waves, and landings in accordance with your knowledge or you simply bypass them. With the design of a thoroughly thought trail, they created a fun mix of gravity and centrifugal force, where you can experience a real flood of emotions. It doesn't matter if you are a beginner or a professional, you will leave the trail with a big smile at the end! I really recommend that you visit this track and experience this amazing ride, and don't worry, you will make it to the finish line.
So guys, if you ever visit Austria or Slovenia you need to go there and have some fun.
What do you say? Are you ready for this? 😊
Guys, till next time ;)
