The Rock of Gibraltar πŸ—» and Monkeys πŸ’ // Photo Walk πŸ“·

Hi,

During our visit in the South of Spain, we decide to spend one day in Gibraltar. By the way, Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory located at the southern tip of the Iberian Peninsula and it has border with Spain. The Airport runway is a border between Gibraltar and Spain and it closes when a plane is landing.

The easiest and quickest way to get on a top of Rock is to take a cablecar or minibus, but if you not in a rush, take an hour walk up hill :)

Views from the top of the Rock are amazing, just be careful of famous monkeys "Barbary macaques".

We used to have a troop of monkeys at our old house and they are a pain in the butt. Gibraltar is somewhere I would like to do a day trip to as well. You took some great photos and look as though you had a great time. I suppose they have to use the space and doubling up as a road you have a runway.

Thank you @cryptoandcoffe πŸ˜πŸ‘Š would say those monkeys feel as a kings of the Rock and get used to big crowds of tourists. Always looking for smallest opportunity to steel something tasty 😁

I guess that those monkeys like to steal stuff, right? I haven't seen a monkey in wild and I would love to! They are so fascinating and clever. I think sometimes they are even more clever than we are :)

Poor little girl! Was she afraid?

Nice photos and it looks like you had a lovely day with your family.

Thank you for sharing and congratulations on your curie vote!

Heard some stories from local ones, about people been robbed with shopping bags 😁 I don’t know is it true or no but funny 😁 my daughter didn’t want to be too close to them as well...

Wow now that is a rock with a fantastic view! :-)

Gotta watch those macaques, they are fast!
Wonderful photographs and looks like a awesome trip! Looking down at the city is astounding @tomsmaid!

Hi @shasta glad you like it πŸ˜πŸ‘Š

Hey, @tomsmaid.

Those are definitely some amazing views, and definitely worth getting up there, no matter how you manage to do it. :)

The monkeys look like they own the place. I assume they get fed by passerby? Do they actually live up there and have access to food otherwise?

Spain's definitely on the list for places to visit, especially the southern in. Now, it looks like I need to add Gibraltar, too. :)

You all looked like you had plenty to enjoy, in spite perhaps of the monkeys.

Congratulations on the curie and the great views.

Hi @glenalbrethsen, glad you like it my experience πŸ˜πŸ‘Š it’s not recommend to feed monkeys and plenty fruits trees around 😁

Oh, okay. So, they're around for the fruit trees, not because they're being fed by the tourists. I wondered because I've been to a couple of places where the animals hung around expecting something because eventually someone broke down and gave them something. Mostly birds. In one place, it was actually encouraged. You could buy feed/food for them and then go toss it at them. Kids loved doing that, but it did seem to make the animals a little more aggressive, if you were slow on the draw to get them their meal. :)

Believe if you would have something eating in your hand, would be quick robbery 😁

we have traveled a lot in Spain, but we have never been to Gibraltar. But does the Rock represent what was once called Colonne d'Ercole? What air do you breathe up there? Do you feel the myth, the legend? The monkeys are very nice !! I think they are very spiteful animals, but they like to play! Congratulations and thank you for sharing with ushi @Tomsmaid

Hi πŸ‘‹ it’s represent northern pillar of β€œThe Pillars of Hercules”. About air don’t know anything special, it was nice sunny day but definitely feels a special place with it’s rich history.

Nice to know about Gibraltar and your trip. It's a breathtaking view from the top. Your photos makes me believe it's a must place to visit if somebody is in the nearby region. And, perhaps those monkeys were looking for food only. They become friends when they something to eat πŸ˜€ Thanks for sharing and have a great day.

The view is wonderful. Gibraltar is definitely on my list of places to go. Is the trip doable with a little kid? Is it a lot of walking? I have two daughters of around age 5, so I was wondering how difficult it is for the little ones :) I postpone some of my travels because they are too little :)Heyy @tomsmaid, the photographs look very good.

Hi @lion200, my daughter was 5 years old that time and never had problem. Easiest way would be to take a minibus to the top of the Rock and after have a nice walk downhill 😁

Hahah, yeah the way down hill should be easier than the way up right :D
I will keep this suggestion in mind when I go there. Thanks again for sharing your experience and lovely photo's!

Yay, I'm so glad to see these photos. I guess I've never seen photos of Gibraltar. It looks like a very nice place, especially from above. That cable car ride must be a very good way to see the whole area. I guess I would have taken hundreds of photos.
Monkeys are my favorites but judging from the photos, those are some very cheeky ones. i can understand your daughter, I guess I would have been scared too.

Thank you @erikah, glad you like it πŸ˜πŸ‘Š
