So.. The other day I was talking to my father and he was telling me which black and white one he wanted to try for the contest he's doing and.. We ended up talking about lightning images in black and white and how his image Flashpoint would be a really good one to do.
I woke up today to see he got his highest payout yet at around $70 at the time of typing this, which you can find here at this link.

So even if he doesn't win the contest he still did great with this one! And while we were talking on the phone I ruminated about trying to do my own black and white lightning image as well.
I was with him that day and I got a that same shot except I was zoomed a bit further out.. And.. Here's my version! I doubt it will make anything near what his image made, but.. I just wanted to share it anyways cause I need to try to post more of my own stuff as I've been mostly posting IFC/Marketplace things lately.
And.. Since he just posted his, I might as well post mine so you can get a different look at this amazing event.
It was one of the more vivid memories in my life, I remember we were really close, the rain would come down and lightning wasn't far off, and if I remember correctly we had to speed out of there afterwards. It was quite an adventure!
Hope you like it! :)
absolutely gorgeous!! love your photo very much, especially since i am a beginner photographer and learning more and more about it daily. thank you for sharing both of your works on steemit! :)
Thanks for appreciating and the ncie comment! And oh? If you ever have any questions feel free to ask and I may be able to help! Photography sure is fun and rewarding! And to me it's sort of just the "art of seeing".. Which I think is an important art!!! Perception is so much of this world. Anyways.. Don't wanna ramble too much, lol. You're welcome for sharing! Thanks again for appreciating! :D
you are so welcome and well deserved! i'm so happy the ifc is starting to boom, mostly due to everyone's talent. thank you so much about offering your help, yay!
i love photography so much and you do great work. you do amazing art, i love it much.

thank you!! :)
That is an amazing photo and an absolutely beautiful spot. I've tried to capture lightning but don't have much success. We have many lightning storms especially over the sea, but I'm no photographer so don't have the right equipment.
Your dad's photo is also magnificent, but I really like your composition which includes the water and the reflection.
Thanks! Glad you think so. :) It can be difficult getting lightning in the day time! We had special lightning triggers that you can buy which sense when the lightening strikes and takes the picture automatically for you. Also that's cool you like my fathers image as well! I think they're both awesome, I wish I had one in closer. Though I agree the lightning in the reflection is a pretty awesome addition and aspect as well!
Really? Ooh, the wonders of technology!
Another nice post.. thanks
That's a good shot from you. It really looks beautiful.
You and your father both are extremely great artists! I think lightning storms are beautiful!! There are so many things that we take for granted in life and some never notice the beauty of a storm!!! Until it is captured on film! Great image! I love the reflection in the water, it definitely was pretty close from the looks of it!!!☺
Hey' what a beautiful shot it looks very good in black and white. Good job.
What an awesome moment with you caught on camera and being with your dad. That's cool he got a $70 payout, that's pretty good!
That's so ****ing epic man!! Mother nature at its finest! I love storms. I don't know why but there's something about them that's just fascinating. I wish my vote was worth a hell of a lot more cause this truly is an epic shot, along with your dads!
Great pixs both, same yet so different! There's a compactness in your dad's, a stillness that gives it impact, in my opinion. And oh, he's such a dude! lol.
Hello @apolymask. Wow! Your shot was amazing! What camera did you use for this? If you dont mind me asking. I love taking photo nowadays, im an amateur photographer haha even from the simpliest one.
Thank you for sharing my friend @apolymask.
Enjoy your day! ☺
That is pretty awesome! I went and had a look at your dad's and it is stunning. So similar to yours, but it's amazing how his zooming in just seems to capture more of it. Nice job though...I wish yours could make as much as his, but I'm happy for him that it did. I remember the very first time, months ago, that I saw one of his photos on your page, and you were saying how you thought all of his photos should make huge money. I agree. And hooray! It finally did :)
