The Olympic Peninsula - Washington

in #photofeed7 years ago

So, congratulations to @shadalene for my Fix-It Friday challenge. Out of all the great submissions (which I went back and forth and back and forth) this one had the best colors (in my opinion) and had the Milky Way pop nicely. Thanks to all the other folks that took part in the game! Everyone should check out the freshest account on Steemit called @photogames. I'm personally really excited to see what all happens with it!

Anywho, below is a picture of my friend that my friends and I visited while near Seattle. Lynae took us out to the Olympic Peninsula, where we did some camping and engaged in many hours of Twilight trivia (the Twilight series was based out of this area). I'm a part of Team Terry, a lesser-known character that's really just a nice guy. He might not have been named in the series, but I named him and I think he's pretty cool.

Enough about Twilight . . . the PNW (Pacific North West of U.S.) is an awesome place to go camping. Our campsite was in the woods a bit from the beach, and despite the frigid wind in the middle of Summer it was an awesome place to hang out at. Olympic National Park has some crazy stuff with all the different ecosystems within it. Has anyone else been to the Olympic Peninsula? What were some of the best parts there?

You MUST go to Cape Flattery and La Push- Beach #2. The second is so Twilight cliche, and completely worth it. That's where @AustinHopper and I spend New Years two years ago and it's one of my favorite experiences of my entire life.

Awesome! When I head out there again, I will definitely check it out! And hey, even if something is cliche, it still can be cool. It was cool enough to become a cliche right? Is that how cliches work? Haha

Yes haha a very good point! But really you should. IMG_9244.jpg IMG_9190.jpg

Ah nice! I have seen pictures of those little island rock thingys! The beach we went to had some similar, but not quite as cool as those. Thanks for the recommendation!

Thank you, @aweber!

I would love to travel the Olympic Peninsula. I am close once but did not have time to get out there and went to the cascades instead. Love the framing in this ; makes one wonder what they are thinking.

Hey, the Cascades are a good enough alternative, I'd say!

Would you go to Olympic over going back to the cascades a second time?

Now that's a tough one. Hm..I never camped in the Cascades, but assuming they have nice camping, I might go with them. It's a much more colorful and mountainous place, whereas Olympic has tons of crazy vegetation and is pretty stormy and raw. But..I'd probably overall say the Cascades.

Congratulations @shadalene and nice shot @aweber. Quality photography..... You are living the life man!

Thanks! :)

Thanks! Appreciate it!

fixed lenses make photography come alive ... good shot

I agree. They're cheaper and sharper and make you work for your shot, haha.

Really cool! Upvoted! :)

Awesome, moody looking shot dude! Love the whole photogames thing, nice work getting on it so early!

Thanks man! And credit for photogames doesn't go to me, I was just playing in the first round.
The men behind the mystery are @jarvie @derekkind and @caseygrimley

I wasn't sure if you were involved in starting it but I meant for getting involved so early! Great to see people like you getting stuck in to new projects, like @aussieninja and his involvement with @freshfive, it's hard enough keeping track of posts but contests and curation get really time consuming! You get back what you put in right!?

Yeah, I was honored to have been put in the first test run! Yes, it can be time consuming though, but totally worth it :)

wow.....i like the picture too......is that a girl or a boy ???

Thanks! And yes it's a girl..
