Wells Gray Provincial Park

in #photofeed7 years ago

While my two friends and I were travelling through Banff and Jasper, someone we met along the way insisted that we hit up Wells Gray Provincial Park on our way over to Vancouver. None of us had heard anything about that park, but if the "locals" tell you to do something, they're usually the ones to trust. Needless to say, we heeded their advice and budgeted in a few hours to visit the park. It did not disappoint. If you like water falling from one point that is higher than the other point, then you'll like this place.

There were multiple impressive waterfalls in different places of the park, even one that you could go close to and climb around (and in, if you wanted to get beaten down by water), and get doused by that sweet sweet Canadian freshwater. For those of you travelling to Banff and/or Jasper in the near future, and are looking for something to do West of it, I would highly suggest Wells Gray.

You should!

Nicely framed with the trees

Thanks Mr. Stone

No worries Mr....Weber is it?

Your wisdom precedes you.

please...please...call me Sherlock.

Beautiful, stuff.

Thank, you.

Seconded - and great photo! The park was awesome and I love that falls but was misted-out in the morning - couldn't see anything because of the fog. It's an out-of-the-way place, but worth the detour!

We went there in the middle of the afternoon, and was obviously clear as a whistle. I feel like that place would be amazing if there was a little bit of mist to make those falls burst through, but obviously if it's too much then you can't do much :)

Its such a beautiful spot. Its almost near me (only 5 hours south !)

For as far up as I know you are, that doesn't seem so bad! haha

I have not been there in summer ! Just winter. Was fascinated by the ice cone .

I feel cheated. There wasn't an ice cone when I was there!

I just put a pic up of it!

It was just like a multi story ice cream someone had dropped on the ground . Nothing to worry about missing.

Nice framing! This one caught my eye and had me looking for a while. I'll bet the sound of it was awesome too.

Thanks! And yes it was, like a water lion constantly roaring.

Epic spot dude! That place looks incredible!

Thanks man! And yes, it was :)

Wow this is stunning, we keep wishing we had driven to Vancouver instead of getting the train as we missed out on all these amazing sights!

A train? I wasn't even aware of one going there from Banff! I'm sure that was pretty cool too, though.

Well the train was from Portland to Vancouver, I thought this was near Vancouver! My mistake! Would be amazing if there was a train between these places, especially as the trains go quite a lot slower over there than compared to the UK so you would have time to take in all the scenery!!

Well this park definitely sounds and looks quite amazing!

Cool pic thanks for sharing.

Wow it's really raging!!! How tall is that waterfall? Is there a way of hiking down to the base of it?

Really not sure how tall it is, and I don't remember seeing a trail to the base of this one, since it was so powerful I assume. There were others you could though.

It looks like near this waterfall you can not dive from above :)

At least not advisable, yes!
