What we do see depends mainly on what we look for...
in the same field the farmer will notice the crop,
the geologists the fossils,
botanists the flowers,
artists the colouring,
sportsmen the cover for the game.
Though we may all look at the same things,
it does not all follow that we should see them.
John Lubbock
To learn to see-
to accustom the eye to calmness,
to patience,
and to allow things to come up to it;
to defer judgment,
and to acquire the habit of approaching
and grasping an individual case from all sides.
This is the first preparatory schooling of intellectuality.
One must not respond immediately to a stimulus;
one must acquire a command
of the obstructing and isolating instincts.
Friedrich Nietzsche

There is a brief period of twilight of which I am especially fond,
little more than a moment,
when I see what seems to be color without light,
followed by another brief period of light without color.
The earlier period, like a dawn of night,
calls up such sights as at all other times are hidden,
wistful half-formless presences neither of day nor night,
that draw up with them similar presences in the mind.

Excellent work! Looking forward to some exciting times ahead!
This is very bad Steemit etiquette to comment and then upvote yourself and not me, the poster. Just saying,
Excellent quotes that explore the subject matter of the photos - it's a challenge in photography shooting something that is indistinct, but you focussed on the foreground all allowed the background to remain elusive and mysterious. Good work!
Thanks sir.
Always nice to see original artistic content.
Thank you so much @baerdric. Very kind of you to say.
beautiful poetry!! thanks for sharing - Upvoted and followed you, check out my blog I think you'll enjoy, if you get the chance!
Glad you enjoyed the photos and poetry. Thanks for your upvote and follow. I'll swing by ....
Fog creates such an ethereal effect with photography!
Yes it does. Each shot is different - the sun was trying desperately to poke through but the fog won.
I love how you lose trees in the fog, where do you find yourself? go through my blog and see my new content, greetings :D
Thank you @sorn1992. I appreciate your feedback.
Your words and photos were very calming tonight. I made myself slow down and and soak them in, and it was worth it.
Oh I'm so glad @joleenwillis. It's always nice when your work touches someone. Thank you!
I love fog photos. It's one of my absolute favorite conditions to shoot in. It can make an otherwise normal scene magical.
Really like the second photo with the droopy trees. I bet it was still and silent.
It was very silent....fog does that doesn't it. Not sure why unless our minds go into fight or flight mode, sensing danger and we are on high alert. Boogey man cometh!
The fog definitely deadens sound waves! In really dense fog, the birds stop chirping, too, adding to the stillness.
Yes, it was quiet. Now that you mention it, no birds. And the fog was crazy dense.
Ha, I didn't know Foggy Friday was a thing, haha. I just posted a foggy photo too, though yours is much thicker fog. Ha, and I just noticed both of ours have corn fields in them as well. Guess it's our twin day, ha. Nice photos!
Yup. Maybe it will become a thing....who knows with all the different challenges on Steemit now - it makes my head spin! Our fog was extremely thick that day.
Very true. There are so many popping up, but I guess that's good right?
It is. I have to choose wisely :)

Yes exactly! Thank you!

I absolutely love fog. I can't wait to get down to Washington and Oregon this summer and capture all of it. Great photos!
Thanks @chaseburnett. You'll encounter a lot of fog in those states for sure! Can't wait to see what you produce.

I just love how these photos turned out. That fog in the first photo against that bare tree. And that second one with that green tree and that field. Excellent contrast.
Thanks @seareader1. I like the first one because of the starkness with the bare branches and barely visible background trees. It's very moody. The weeping willow tells a tale. ha....which tale I don't know. It just does :)
Quite mysterious shots! The mist adds drama and mystery.
I love the fog. And the rain. But it's not good for my camera .... I forgot I had taken these and found them while organizing. It was a thick fog that day and we were living in the country - couldn't see the road once I left the car to walk into the fields a bit.
I find most of my shots while organizing. lol!
Love the atmosphere that fog brings, the second photo is my favourite!
It's nice to get feedback from you @vtravels. Thank you.
Lovely quotes to accompany beautiful images! Great work!
Oh, good. Glad you enjoyed both. Thank you.
Beautiful photos! I especially love the second one, it looks like a fairy-tale illustration! I love how you've lined up the trees one after the other and how each tree seems to be coming from a distinctly different magical realm :)
Aw, thanks so much @naydenova.
A simple composition. But an atmosphere and some amazing details.Lovely, filigree and impressively beautiful
I appreciate your feedback and input @mnallica. I learn from you and your wife. Thanks!
Like a dream. Lovely scenes and images :) congrats dear ..
Sweet words as always. Thanks @artizm. :)
There is always something so captivating in a foggy day but it can be difficult to capture. You did a beautiful job with these photos!
Aw, thanks so much @keithboone. I learned it can be difficult because the lens doesn't know where to focus. I lucked out I think. Thank you though. Always an encourager.
I love foggy photos! These are beautiful and the quotes are perfect!
Could you check out one of the recent contest entries? An elephant that I am suspicious of. I can't figure out how to use Tineye on my phone or Chromebook. Thanks for calling out that silhouette photo!
Sure! Thanks Mel.
Thank you!! Seems I've fallen into a bad crowd!
that's not on you!! lol. I think I found 4.....there are 3 others that Im not sure about but I think you have a sense about these things as well. I'm glad to help you out if you need me again.
Oh that is nice!! We have been getting a vicious fog in the evenings!
There is something soothing and scary at the same time....walking in the fog. Especially at night.....
