the glass lake

in #photofeed7 years ago

A lake is the landscape’s most beautiful and expressive feature.
It is earth’s eye;
looking into which the beholder measures the depth of his own nature.
Henry David Thoreau

I missed #monochromemonday and today is #treetuesday so I am incorporating the two in one photo. Trees and monochrome photography. Done!

The Thoreau quote is just wonderful and perfect match to the depths of your photo:)Two days in one ... well done:)

I almost made it a 3 er ... .@daveks has a photo contest for water landscapes....but I rattle my mind too much trying to keep up with all these challenges and contests. Aaaaaand, I think I am going to go back to posting once a day. Twice is a lot of work. Seriously. I don't know how some do it 4 or more times a day.

I generally aim for twice and often double up too on themes. I post twice a day ... one for 100 day poem challenge and another haiku. I couldn't imagine posting more than that. I also spend a lot of time appreciating the work of others. I am still relatively new here and building community is important for me:)

Few say it better than Thoreau - good choice.

I love this shot in monochrome. There is a certain mystery to it.

Thanks so much @thefoundry :) Glad you stopped by.

That glass like surface looks so inviting. You’ve captured the balance of the nature there beautifully.

Thanks Lydon. I love glassy lakes and this one was just that. A few ripples across the way and close to me was pure water - I could see the bottom.

Looks a tad chilly, yet!

It wasn't too bad. It was a dark and rainy afternoon in BC....rainforest you know. I like cooler temperatures, just not winter kind. Black and white tends to make things look colder...and dark. Think lots of green and a blue sky and clouds reflecting off the glassy lake. Aw....that's more like it.

Beautiful shot! I would argue that a mountain is more expressive than a lake. But ultimately it’s nice to have both !

I agree with you. I have a special connection with mountains they take my breath away. Thanks @intrepidphotos!

Beautiful reflections, nothing quite like the stillness of a glass-topped lake!

no truer words....thanks @cognoscere!

So Beautiful. I can smell the pine!

I can still smell it!! That reminds me of a commercial years ago for a soup commercial. I forget which one. But there was a tiny elderly lady who'd call out from the distance and sing/say, I can still smell it!

Pine is the best and freshest scent, in my opinion !

The black and white. make it evocative
feel like something is looks at me.

Aw....that's nice @norwegianbikeman. Glad you enjoyed it.

I love birds reflection in my dear friend.
what a clean reflection how beautiful the arrangement and contrast!
congratulations for the wonderful composition :)

You are the sweetest .... seriously. Thank you so much for the upvote too. !

It looks like something primordial, untouched and pure. As it is beautifully told that lakes are eyes of the Earth. Very beautiful picture. On the surface of the water as a mirror reflects all the beauty of this landscape. Thank You!

Thank you for such a beautiful comment! This lake is located at the base of Mt Garibaldi in BC - a Provincial Park with four glacial lakes. It's a very nice hike.

Nice capture!!

Thank you kindly @asgarth!

Wonderful image. Is that typically a still water lake or is it usually more active?

It's a glacier lake so it would be fairly calm and glassy unless there was windy or other elements.

Glad you enjoyed the photo.

Speechless. Simple, but amazing!🌹

Aw....thanks @emmamia :) Such a nice compliment.

Trees and monochrome done to perfection @countrygirl What a remarkable landscape with those superb reflections looking resplendent in black and white.

Beautiful photo!
@tincanjunction

Love your steemit name!! Glad you liked the photo. :)

Very nice shot and 2 birds with 1 stone!!! Very cool!

See? You motivate me to keep on track of things. If it weren't for monochrome monday I don't know what I'd go.
