Hello everyone!
So just when we are ready to make the most out of curation trails for the @photofeed project, the network is experiencing issues. @timcliff wrote a good piece explaining why this is occuring. You can read about it here.
In the meanwhile, what it means for us is that the steemauto service cannot be relied on for me to follow the votes of @photofeed (30minutes later). This shouldn't discourage you from signing up to steemauto or participating to the #phtofeed tag. I know the guys at Steemit are working hard to solve this issue.
The solution we came up with is that when @photofeed resteem your photo, I will upvote it with a generous upvote. In some ways, @photofeed will become a kind of "curated" version of the #photofeed tag.
Want to be resteemed?
Follow the example of @dmytrokorol here not only did he took an amazing shot but he also shared his settings!
Like this:
Setting | Value |
---|---|
Camera | Sony NEX-6 |
Lens | Sony E PZ 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OSS |
Focal Length | 16mm |
Apature | ƒ8 |
ISO | 400 |
Shutter | 2.5 s |
This indicates to us that you know what you are doing and that it is your original photography.
PS: We've seen people starting to post non-photography stuff under that #photofeed...hoping for an upvote. Please don't do that. @photofeed as a policy to not flag...but I'm personally short of patience for people who abuse this tag that we've just launched.

I knew people would start doing this , I guess it’s time to pull out the guns and start a flag war . Thanks for the update on the camera lens part
I agree with you @journeyoflife, some cleaning up need to be done to curb the abusers.
The flag war is really going to be intense.
Flagging aggressively seems like the only way to get traction on that issue.
Flagging might be the only issue. However, maybe you guys should leave a comment with a warning first? Something that tells them to not use this tag for photos that are not their own, or else they will get flagged the next time.
that would be best; a warning first before flagging.
I believe a warning first before flagging down would be just fine just to clarify our conscience.
We have faith on steemit and Steemians. Hope everything will settle soon. I request to all not to spoil the tag #photofeed. Show your talent in photography and earn rewards for that. Thanks
This is just a step to making sure that the community is a better place.
Sunset on the White Lake by @dmytrokorol is beautiful. I believe that at some point, those who abuse photofeed tag should be flagged, specially when they were being warned.
Exactly what i feel also.
It seems many of the upvoting systems are having issues....
I am hoping this is a temporary situation....
The last few days I had to manually upvote your posts....It isnt the end of the world, just makes it tough to stay up on..
I have to go through and make sure I didnt miss any.
Thanks for the update.
I guess the problem is still on.
I just believe that if you are assisting a newbie to see his or her way around you should be able to lecture that person about the right tag to use for various kind of post....let the change start from you..
I trust the guys at steemit to get things fixed ...
It seems you're really serious about having a 'clean' photography tag. I appreciate your hard work. I browse for nice photos during my free time and this tag is a big help. Congratulations to everyone involved!
Congratulations to you also.
Ok, I'll manually upvote your posts as well, since the autovote for your fans is disabled too
Lol, you should take it easy. It might not be the way it sounds.
found a little mistake to fix
I thought as much
Give a human an inch, they would wanna take a yard
Reason i asked in your last post
If the curation was done manually or autovotes
It's just outrageous that even now so many people don't understand what tags are for. They just use random tags to reach out to wider audience/viewers in a cheap attempt to get upvote. This just shows absolute lack of commonsense. If you post doesn't have anything to do with photogrgaphy.....don't tag anything with the friggin' word "PHOTO."
I'm glad to see this post! Sometimes, I forget posting the settings of the shot but it's clearly beneficial. While reflecting on one of my posts, I realized that I only had to use too fast of a shutter for the moon because I was too lazy to set up the tripod (with mosquitoes all around me on the rooftop and no lights). I just shot it off-hand while resting my elbows on top of the concrete fence and hurried downstairs. I wonder what it would look like if I used a long exposure.
Ok. Thanks for informing us about this updates. Hopefully, everything will be back to normal soon.
Happy Steeming
Yeah thanks to him for informing us cos if not we might end up deformed like people flagged for using wrong content for the photofeed tag.
@dmytrokorol, is an ultimate photographer. Guys like him must be praised and the #photofeed tag will do this job accurately. I hope that people on steemit will not ruin this tag and will upload good quality photographs under this tag. The photo you uploaded in this post is an awesome click.
Happy Photography, @photofeed.
Thanks.
The example of @dmytrokorol was very beautiful:
Setting Value
Camera Sony NEX-6
Lens Sony E PZ 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OSS
Focal Length 16mm
Apature ƒ8
ISO 400
Shutter 2.5 s
Thanks for the update and info
Will add the photo Ingo for future posts
Some people use tags randomly without any knowledge and they mashup all this. I hope it will not happen with #photofeed tag. This is the tag to appreciate quality photography and encourage the photographers like @dmytrokorol, I hope it's a short time issue and it will be resolved very soon.
@cryptoctopus and team, You guys always come up with a nice solution.
Thanks.
Excellent post about @photofeed. Awesome photography. Thanks for sharing such a good post.
I personally like the Tag and the idea s well and I read an article you resteemed yesterday explaining the team and the process.
For sure everything will be doing great soon. Too many people support you no matter how many haters out there.
You are right. Nice post. @cryptoctopus
Both images are beautiful. I prefer the second one. The dark colors and almost purple sky seem to talk to me. Full of energy and uncertainty !!!
Exciting
Thank you for sharing
You said many important things to the PhotoFeed timer, all of us should abide by some rules and principles so that we can achieve success.
Bandwidth.... Because of this problem I stay away from Steemite den every time :( @cryptoctopus
Please follow me back
Thanks for the information, have a good day ♥
I like photography my self too much :) I wish to become photographer :) thanks for such amazing post :)
OK I have a ridiculous question... is phtofeed something or did you add a typo in your tags...?
Thank you for trying to improve the photo content while leaving the tag "photography" open for intuitive use. I just hate to see newbies get scolded for doing things that they very likely did not know were "rules."
Yeah you're right, they probably just wanted an upvote and did it out of ignorance so just let it go, things like that might make them give up on steemit. so I am apologizing on their behalf too @cryptoctopus
an error that I can't correct :/
Its too bad that people take these things for granted. I'm solidly behind the no-flag policy, please do not lose your patience
It's simply human nature and am afraid there is no fix to this, an opportunity presents itself to earn humans we always try look for a way to exploit it and the idea of upvoting resteemed post looks great but there is so little a single account can search for.
Once again nice idea about helping photographers via the steem blockchain
Is that new @#photofeed
Nice photograph
Wanna join
They should work on that problem because it is affecting a lot
thanks for generating and providing solutions for submerged photographyI hope this will work
The bandwidth squeeze. I've managed to sign up for SteemAuto but can't get either you or photofeed followed :) It's only a matter of time I'm sure.
Did you ever wish you had an equipment melting reverse ISP ray? It would be as good as flagging the false uses of the tag.
I understand your issues..Thanks for sharing valuable post..
Hey 👋🏻 I want to know if we can make a post with several pictures under the photofeed tag? Or is it just 1 picture per post?
any number you want
I totally love the sound of this. It's awesome!!
It'd be beautiful if you also created a "motivation" tag. So people can post really inspiring stuff under that category and therefore help other Steemians when they are down, or need that extra boost.
Cheers!!!
Alright I have a silly question.is phtofeed something or did you include an error in your labels.
Much obliged to you for endeavoring to enhance the photograph content while leaving the tag "photography" open for instinctive utilize.
I simply prefer not to see beginners get chided for doing things that they likely did not know were "rules."
Much obliged for sharing...Carry on dear..
Nice pic
I talked about this yesterday when I saw the introduction of #photofeed. I knew some some people that abused the #photography tag will still go ahead to abuse this new tag.
But thanks to the amazing people overseeing this new tag, I know the abuse will be easily corrected and the defaulters given a warning.
Beautiful photo shoot. Good post about photofeed. I like your activities.
I have not registered on steam auto but a couple of my friends on the steemit platform were complaining some hours ago. I'll inform them now. Thank you.
Nice one. Thanks for this.
We have some good and talented photographers around with good works that speak for them but they are not noticed so I believe with the help of this new tag, they'll be shot to the limelight.
It's amazing photography
Thank again for launching this great new initiative..
Well, I hope your initiative goes well, even with this small pause! I like the idea of serious photographers having a chance to see their work featured, and somehow separated out from the oceans of people who take pictures of their belly-button lint with their smartphones...
Of course, there will always be those who will try to get a free ride, and I suppose all one can do is to make it so that doing so is not profitable for them. Shame this all just boils down to money and the essence of true talent gets lost in the process.
Thanks for the valuable advices, yes no one here have the right to disobey the real purpose of tag, thanks you are great, wants to be part of your project.
@cryptoctopus,
Yeah every tag got spammers! Therefore, I think you have to allocated % of SP to flag those spam contents as well! Hope STEEMIT dev team will fix that problem soon!
For me this is a good sign! Last time we got huge amount of errors before STEEMIT dev team launch new version of STEEMIT :D So, I think this is a good sign for us! Probably they are testing something much more powerful like SMT!
Cheers~
I would like to participate in this, but I do not have an expensive camera. I just have a Kodak point and shoot.
I do know the difference between snapshots and photographs. However, it is an art, and tends to be subjective.
I have also read where photographers who carry a simple point and shoot, have made the shot with it, after dropping their expensive camera in a creek.
I was randomly reading blogs and got into yours . It's good of you that have started the initiative . I yeah I do find many of the tags being used just to get up vote or its more like disclaiming tags . The field of art should be pure and original . I do find tags being misused when I search art or drawing works . So this should be done . Wish I could take part in your lovely initiative but unfortunately I am a sketch artist so best of luck in the initiative . Lets hope after this initiative tags aren't misused.
