Amphulapcha Vista

in #photofeed7 years ago (edited)

It takes a few weeks to hike to the top of the glacial moraine locking in Imja Tsho. The lake is perched on top of the glacier at 5010m. The twin peaks of the Amphulapcha's dominate in the background at 6202m and 6118m (20,348 and 20,072 ft). Nepalese Himalaya, Nepal.

I took this shot on Fuji Velvia slide film. What is the longest you have been on a trek for ? We spent over 30 days hiking on this expedition in Nepal.

Amazing! Great shot! Velvia is just so BAM!
I have never been on a long hike like that. I bet it is an amazing experience! I would love to hear about your hiking expeditions- how do you bring food & water? What are your favourite pieces of equipment to bring (photo & otherwise)?

Yes I used to shoot a lot of Velvia. Water is easy to come by in the mountains you just have to treat it. As for food there a people all over the Himalayas in the most remote of spots so you just eat simple food with the locals like Dhal and Curry potatoes. Its a good weight loss program. With respect to equipment ; good goretex outerwear, sleeping bags, head torch , survival gear. As much photography equipment as you can carry.

Hiking poles to save your knees.

Awesome thanks for the reply!! Sounds like delicious food to me!
Good outerwear etc... we are slowly building our inventory of that stuff. Hopefully soon we can try it out on some adventures.
Thanks for the tips!

Love the mountain photo intrepidphotos thank you,

Awesome photo!!! My longest hike has been 5 days in the Gunung Leuser-NP in Sumatra. I wanted to hike longer, but because we have been only two people the did't find the required guides for it :-(.
