ummm... what kind of life form is this? (ENLIGHTEN US)

in #photofeed6 years ago (edited)

I photographed a wedding on Saturday and saw this little guy and grabbed a shot. I wasn't very zoomed in at the time since I was testing the 24-70 sigma @sjarvie5 just got. (great lens)

HUMMING MOTH?

I have seen a few humming BIRDS in my life and this did not look like one.

Anyway I figure someone out there will know.
Maybe I'll reward the person with the best insight/link with an SBI from @steembasicincome just for fun.

Where were we? Payson, Utah

45 MegaPixels is nice

I guess this is the part where i show that all that detail and zoomed in view came from this shot

It's a Sphinx Moth, also common in Arizona.

Full vote for the right info!!

Thanks for real... i knew someone would pull through.

Thanks I appreciate that. We have marveled at these moths for many years, because they so closely resemble a hummingbird they even drink nectar from flowers. Thanks again!

Awesome so glad someone knew what it is.

Thanks' It's always nice to solve one mystery so we can get on to the next!

Love all the colors in the photo. Great you got the moth in focus.

I'm a bot. I detect haiku.

I want to know what it is too. Whatever it is sure picked a pretty place to be... so colorful. Great pictures.

hey i also love birds and nature

I prefer the first (not cropped) image. Those OOF flower add to the feeling of depth.
