Photo Fun Contest - Week 11 – “Weird Creations of Nature"

in #photofeed7 years ago

Hi everybody, this is an entry into Photo Fun Contest - Week 11 – “Weird Creations of Nature" organised and run by @claudiaz

I still don't understand what happened to these critters. The photographs were taken on the Thai island in the Andaman sea, Koh Phayam.

They look like they've been ravaged by some apocalyptic time. It's very strange, but if you take it to fullscreen and zoom in, you can see one of the beetles is clutching a pair of wings between it's head and the tree bark it's been clinging to since it's death.

So yes a very "Weird Creation of Nature" here. 🧐 I hope you enjoy the photographs despite their grotesque nature.

they sure are weird, thanks for the entry

You're welcome @claudiaz. Those wings that one of them looks like he's hugging and biting against the tree
though............... it's such a strange puzzle, I want to wind it all back to see what occurred to leave such a decvastating scene................ well devastating if you're a bug at least. 😆

After spending hours looking online to try and find the answer, I'm wondering if this might have been the result of those tropical parasitical fungi that controls a host's body as part of it's life and breeding cycle, as I'm sure 'roaches don't have so many hairs coming from around the mouth area etc, as these two have?

yes it is rather weird indeed!
