I was standing there for 3 hours just watching eruptions and taking long exposure pictures of Volcan de Fuego just 1,5 km away. Watching this live accompanied by the explosion sound and then hearing the hot rocks tumbling down the slope for a minute after the eruption is magical.
The same evening we went much closer at about 500m of distance. Wouldn’t go to sleep if not for the cold. Without exaggeration, this is one of my most memorable experiences to date. The rumor is that in few years it will be too dangerous and you won’t be able to see it that close. You decide what to do with this info ;)

Awesome shot, @olegnator! 💓 Very crisp and sharp. Seeing this with my own eyes must be terrifying and beautiful at the same time.
Thanks! It is one of my best nature experiences for sure!

Well said! Thanks! 🤗
you are welcome!
At the first glance I thought those are fireworks. Holly heaven! That's fantastic! There are no words to describe it! Lucky you :)
It is magical indeed. No words, but some drone shots I took of an explosion 300 meters always will do a bit better 😀 will make a video later on
Looking forward to watching it :)

That is truly an incredible photo! If you want a career that deals with volcanos you should check this company's video out:
Nanometrics sends out guys to set up seismic instruments near different volcanos around the world and I almost got a job with them, damn....
You should also check Tajumulco, the tallest peak in Guatemala and incidentally an extinct volcano. The hike to the summit is pretty tough, but the view is surreal!
Thanks mate! Sound like an awesome company to work for! What kind of job did you almost get with them? Unfortunately finishing my adventure here in Guate, so no more volcanoes for me, but some other cool stuff!
It would have been a field engineer position, and it would have required to work in Canada's remote northern locations to set up various instruments. They tried to emphasize how much you needed to be adventurous and physically fit for the position and I told them about my Tajumulco hike but alas, it didnt work out in my favour.
