Hi Friends!
Our second day on Lofoten Islands was rough - because of the stormy weather, heavy rain and lack of light - but in the same day (the day I already wrote about in my previus post) or maybe in the night of this day ;) we had this opportunity to watch the Northern Lights.
Just before going to bed I walked outside to check the situation on the sky because I saw the good weather forecast and promising Aurora Borealis forecast...
To check the situation I used my smartphone to take a quick shot with nightshot mode on which gave me the brighter light and colours on the night sky and revealed some greens - this was the sign that it is possible to observe the Aurora Borealis.
I went back to the cabin and mobilized the rest of our group to put on their clothes and drive somewhere in much darker place.
We chose a nearby shoreline just by the fiord with a view towards the mountains and distant village.
The sky on the north-west was still bright - it was late August and the nights on Lofoten were still not completely black, but black enough to see the colours!
Our session in the field was short, there was a few brighter moments but overall the Aurora was very shy, showing only its smooth, quite blurred colours.
But the thing is - we saw it! Being on Lofoten Islands and not seeing any Northern Lights is like being in the church and not making any prays ;).
This night will be memorable for the rest of my traveling team mates as they never seen the Aurora Borealis before - it was their first time and I had the privilage to put them in a right spot and in a right time :).
Next day we had more interesting plans to do so we headed back to the cabin and our beds after maybe an hour in the field - the weather finally got better, where we landed next day - I will show You in my next post :).
