Good day everyone
Today I want to share a little report about my progress in Streetphotography with you. As some of you might know I started a couple of months back with this genre of photography. Maybe some tips & tricks can be helpful for you and of course, I'm always open about critique and ideas from you guys as well (always feel free to have a chat in the comment section with me)
Background
The more I practice, read and learn about Streetphotography - the bigger and more interesting this genre of photography gets for me. On the beginning of my journey I started to really just focus on people and to just take pictures of them without carrying about what was going on around them, but now I work much more with the Backround to give my images more meaning and make them more "alive".
"Imagine this guy walking pass a normal wall - wouldn't be as interesting, right?"
Perspectives
Photography is art. There are no rules how you should take your pictures. I mean of course, from the technical aspect there are some things you need to be aware of, but in terms of perspectives you can experiment around as much as you like to. "Wouldn't it be boring to always just see pictures from the same angle? I sure think it would!"
Eat, Drink, Smoke - Catch People who are doing something
Pictures become way more interesting if you see some action in it. People who are eating, drinking, playing with their phone or smoking a cicarette are way more attractive as pictures where not much is going on.
"I mean yes, that guy on the picture does look pretty interesting already - but seeing him doing something gives the picture the final touch in my opinion."
Spot selection
Always try to select spots where you can imagine interesting things happening. Last weekend for example I was walking around and I saw this super long crosswalk on one of the mainroads. The crosswalk was even that long, that some people had to run really fast when they got on it a few seconds to late. The time seemed to be calculated to just be enough if you start walking as soon as the light turns green. It was funny to watch, ha!
Bus/Train/Metro- Stops
Stops where people wait for something are always a great opportunity to get images of interesting looking people. It really does not matter on which place on earth you live, you will find those stops somewhere around you.
As you can see from all my example pictures - there is so much room for you to be creative. For me it is just super exciting to go out and try to get images of people.
I hope this little report inspired you maybe in some ways or helped you to get some more ideas. I'm also still learning day by day but like for everything in life - If you keep practicing and if you are doing it with passion - You can achieve anything you want to!
On saturday/sunday I will have time again to go back to Bangkok and shoot more streetphotography and also want to discover some trainstations to maybe find some intersting light spots to highlight people waiting inside the station.
Thanks for reading ! :))
Best,
Chris

Heey this is pretty didactic indeed! These things may seem not so important for they are "obvious" but they're not, sometimes we forget how important perspective or people in action can be. This is great! I got confused with the first photo, I didn't know which one of those two men was the real one hahahah what a background! Amazing!

Good tips and ideas!
I get nervous taking people... so I mostly do a fast one, and kinda run! :D
Thank you for the advices. I've been so focused on portrait photography lately, that I almost forgot the magic of street photography.
Most welcome @isabellemonisse :) I'm really happy that you took the time to read this article. Well Portraits are actually the next part I want to work myself through. I've never done any kind of Portraits yet, but really want to get some Portraits of People while traveling or when I'm doing Street Photography. Thanks! :))
