Nothing Wasted

One of the things I found most impressive as I made my way through India and Nepal, was just how frugal everyone seemed to be. Items that I'm certain would so quickly have been discarded in the West were tended to and repaired as things of value.

Watching this sweet old man work on the rusty remnants of his bicycle touched me deeply. His goats nearby – his modest bed in the background. No walls – no roof – just a simple, uncluttered, open-air space in which to live and work.

Such a beautiful example of true humility.

In every country there are sad facts

Yet I don't find this at all sad. I actually find it quite inspiring.

It is very true that in different parts of the world one would discard something that can actually be fixed! In more developed countries, people don't really pay attention to how much we pollute the planet by doing so! I have recently taken everything we wanted to put into a skip and placed it onto a Gumtree and those items found new owners for a fraction of a price! Recycling is a new trend! 😃

sorry for this crazy late reply! tip! That's awesome @rimicane! Finding new uses for old things is the best kind of recycling, especially when you're gifting those things to others. :)
