Hello all steeming photo lovers!
My name is @photofriend and my mission is to connect, entertain, support, help and reward everybody who shares the passion for photography and is submitting good and original content!
I created the Steemit Photo Journal and Photofriend's Favorites to help the Steemit community grow and today I want to introduce you another addition: #photofriend - the hashtag race!
#photofriend runs since the creation of @photofriend but was not really active. I needed some time to understand what it can do for the Steemit community before specifying its purpose, and I believe three weeks were enough to do so. From Monday on, it will run to support high quality posts including original photography and reward them. It will also inspire others, help them understand what a good quality post is and increase the overall quality of Steemit photo posts. At least this is the idea!
- The tag is to be used by everybody submitting good and original content and including original photography.
- You must follow @photofriend.
- You must submit only your original work.
- You can submit several posts per day but only one upvote can be earned. I want to support quality, not quantity. (midnight to midnight, GMT + 1)
- Steemians will compete for the biggest amount of weekly upvotes. With three winners announced every week.
- Flagging can also be more common. It will serve as a mark of unsatisfying content.
- Several upvotes for every participant.
- Feature of all participants in a weekly post where three winners will be announced.
- Winners will share 50% of all SBD earned by this post.
- A new section in the Steemit Photo Journal will be created to promote the three best posts of the week.

How to create a good photography post and get an upvote?
It is important that you take your time! You will gain followers by producing good quality content, not by increasing quantity.
Title your post well.
Use photographs of the highest possible quality.
It is important to write some text alongside your photograph/s. Provide detailed descriptions of your photographs and some background story. Also provide information about your camera and its settings. It allows people to learn much more.
Format the text. By centering images and text, using bolds, italics, making text larger and presenting your links attractively. For a comprehensive guide of formatting in markdown check out this post by @thecryptofiend on Markdown for Beginners
