It's great that there was a new photo game for me! I will take part in it with pleasure. This photo was taken by me in the mountain forest of the Crimea three weeks ago. I was driving from the top of Mount Ai-Petri and saw this tree on the way. I certainly made a stop to photograph it. For shooting, I chose a fisheye lens, thanks to which, the tree became like some kind of fairy-tale animal.
Thank you for taking part, this is such a great image and an example of using wide angle lens distortion to your advantage. The way the trees bend inwards creates a nice circle for our eyes to linger about in instead of running our vision up the trunks and out of the frame. Great work!
Fog obscured the mountains along the coastline of Northern California. I loved how straight the fog laid and how the trees contrasted it with intricate twists and turns
So peaceful !
Greta photo, thanks for playing! That's so weird how the fog looks like it was drawn with a straight ruler. Was that just the way the sun was hitting it?
I'm not quite sure why the fog was so straight like that. That's one of the reasons what I loved this view and had to take a photo. The ocean was about a hundred feet below it so maybe it had something to do with that :)
Beautiful trees are autumn sometimes, a fog and a winding road, a wonderful picture for a mental rest.
Very beautiful trees! Autumn so adorns!
Thank you so much)
Ok saw your blog post and wondered who you gave this one too! It's beautiful!
@jarvieI am glad to hear it). My work is a reflection of feelings.
Oh, beautiful fall colours and road!!!! Love this, such a great photograph! Thanks for playing. :)
@derekkind Thank you! I am pleased to participate, a good contest!
That's my first entry into a photo game, so I hope I do it right ;) By the way, these are no sensor spots in the sky, this is heavy snow.
Ooooh, make it big! Clickable. I like this one. :)
Thanks, please tell me how :) I didn´t find the right guide for that...
This is what your image should look like now....

You did it fine, and that's a beautiful snowy image. Thank you for playing! :)
Autumn in Utah, Nebo Loop
Lovely fall colours...and that's a familiar photo! From the Decathlon, I think? :)
Yes, you are right! Thought you would appreciate the Decathlon/ Utah awesomeness.
Oh, always! :D
Does this count?
Oh yes, it certainly does!
WOW...
Thanks :)
Nope please delete this one!!
Ummm ... then repost to my entry??
Hahaha, you're not happy with the one I posted to yours? ;)
Thank you for not following @jarvie's suggestions - I picked this as one of my two favourites (and man, it was hard to choose); yours was unique and beautiful and distinctly tree-ish.
Oh brilliant! Thanks! Sorry @jarvie...
Oh wait I haven't yet... I might find something
Yeah that was pretty rude!! grrrr
In the end i let by gones be by gones and gave this dang picture a super high vote even if it was Derek's choice.
@jarvie I have posted one to yours now! It's not too late is it? :P
Nope you got it in just in time. We did our nominations. Now just waiting on everyone to do the rankings.
Love this one !
thanks
I like it, I like it a lot! Simple and effective, not too bright, not too dark. Well done!
Open Sesame....
My wife trying to open the magical tree in the sequoia national park
I think the password is "mellon" (the elvish word for "friend"). :)
Lol
Super excited to participate in this! I'm a sucker for trees in the fog so here's my submission :)
Who doesn't love trees in fog! Los Angeles sadly is pretty devoid of clouds in general. Gives me an excuse to take vacations. ;)
Yeah, So-Cal isn't known for foggy weather. All the more reason to take a trip to the Northwest! It's foggy and rainy up here nine months out of year... Hahaha
I'm from Anchorage and Spokane so I'm always trying to get back to the Northwest whenever I can.
You guys have MARINE LAYER for Dayz!!
Great atmosphere and point of view to take advantage of the layers to show depth. Like @alevaskye said, who doesn't love trees in fog?
I love the trees in Fall, especially when they are in my front yard.
Oh wow, look at that red! Ours are never that vibrant. :)
That one tree shows off it’s vibrant red every Autumn. It’s always the brightest red tree in our area.
Hello, here are my trees :)
This was taken during a hike in October. The fog ruined the view at the top, but it enriched everything else...
Very nice BW - pic!
Thank you. I tried in colour but it just wasn't right... I think it's beacause of the tree shapes. It adds drama in b&w
Great work!
Thanks!
Woah. This is good.
Thanks!
Great atmosphere. Like desperate creatures reaching out their hands to escape.
I appreciate this one more the more I look at it - the contrast, composition, detail, tones, all are spot on. I've picked this as one of the two that will go into the voting round among all the Photo Stars. Good luck, and thanks for playing! :D
Thank you Derek, I appreciate it very much :)
Congratulations!! :D
Wishing you luck!
Thanks.
Mate... :)
Two trees hugged ;)
Get a ROOM!!
lol. Are those baobab trees? :)
We were on holidays when I took this photo, we had been out all day having a great time when on the way back to our accommodation we drove past a plot of land that had a heap of dead trees on it. Their trunks were beautiful but with the stunning sunset resting behind it, I just had to stop and take some photos.
You don't always have to be somewhere special to get a beautiful photo... it's about finding the extraordinary in the ordinary...
@derekkind is gonna have a really tough time choosing... luckily for me he only gets to nominate two for next round.
What I'm trying to say is this is beautiful!!
Thank you!! That's very kind of you : )
I love it too... the colours and textures on that tree (I'm a sucker for that sort of thing) and then with the amazing sunset we had behind it. It was far from a pretty spot, it was all about being in the right place at the right time and the wonderful patience of my husband when I yell out STOP! Lol.
This was the area... very ordinary... : )
Well, it LOOKS like somewhere special. I like how you framed it. Dead trees and a clear sky and you made it look beautiful! :)
Thank you... it really wasn't... it was on a rural property that was actually quite junky (lots of "stuff" laying around).
OH AND THERE'S A HERON!
Okay, I feel silly having to ask... but where is the Heron? I can't see any bird life.
First image, tree on the bottom left!!
Hahaa, so there is!!! :D
Damn you're good!
Well I was looking at it large, and saw something that looked like a heron, so I zoomed in! :D
I have this one hanging on my wall (not that it is large) but I've never seen it, lol, how bad it that! It's good to learn something new everyday! :D
Here's my tree addition!
I read that as "tree addiction," which I wouldn't have judged you for. But thank you for your addition! I want to hike there right now!
Where I live I'm surrounded by forests...so, here's my entry :)
Isn't it nice to be surrounded by forests! Great snowy winter photo, I like what you did there!
Ha ha thanks so much! Didn't do anything (wink wink) :)
;)
Sorry for the chopped tree, but I love this shot. Forest is still full of life in the winter. Moss life!
:O How dare you share a photo of a dead tree!!!
;)
What were you thinking!? :)
It's a great photo. I can imagine Gollum somewhere in the frame.
Nassssty treeeses!
haha, that's it :)
No, but seriously, I really like it. Maybe it's the hint of blues and the greens that are working well together, but those things combined with the moss create a nice, old foresty vibe, and who doesn't like old foresty vibes?
Hey, thanks for your entry, @photoquest, that is a great photo. Those colours...!
Is that the vog filtering the sunlight. Great color.
Here is my entry:
Woah, that's crazy, is the colour just from the sunlight slicing across the tops of the trees?
Yep! After an afternoon canoeing on the river we were treated to some nice views of the tress at sunset, and the perfectly still water allowed for the reflections.
Gray of the forest
I like it, how the trees are shadowed on the edges and how the light draws the eye down as surely as any path would, though we can't see the path. Thanks for entering! :)
Thanks:)
Well here is my entry for Trees.. This Coconut Tree is shot back in my home town Calicut- Kerala, India.
This tree has gone above and beyond to get some sunlight while it grew over the time :)
Well that's something I don't see every day. I like how it appears to be levitating over the water, just bending over for a drink. Thanks for playing and for sharing something from your home town! :)
Plan some trip to India , there is lot to explore :)
I dub this "The Lookout Tree!"
Here is mine :)
Thanks for playing! Nice light there! Is that Yosemite?
That's in the Austrian mountains :) Styria, around 2.5 hours drive from Vienna
I was so close!! ;)
Tree at Joeseph D. Grant county park near San Jose California
Well that's a nice tree! It looks like it has some stories to tell, has seen a few sunsets in its day. :)
