Did I tell you I hate months? I did.. like a million times probably. Or at least every time I post a moth photographs.Mówiłam, że nienawidzę ciem? Mówiłam.. Chyba z million razy. A przynajmniej przy każdej okazji kiedy to publikuje ćmowe zdjęcia.

But we have an improvement that I am very proud of. I really like how they photograph. Even those common ones when you look up close have amazing patterns, colours and different hair/scales whatever that is. I dare to say that some are prettier than butterflies. So for the photography purposes I leared to fight my fear (and hate) and I do come closer to them. As long as they don't try to fly and tangle in my hair (cause everyone knows that is their only purpose to fly), I am fine with them. It is almost the same with butterflies, though I do bare them a little bit better. I even have a favourite moth - Hummingbird hawk-moth, which I find very cute actually. But today I will show a different one.

So I found this one on some dry flower in a garden and it took me a while to ID it. I am still not sure if I am correct, as all the information I found say it is lives in USA and Mexico and the areas there. And I found this one in the south of Portugal. Didn’t see any mention about any European country. Someone correct me if I am wrong or drop some links to read on.Znalazłam ją na wyschniętych badylkach w ogrodzie i trochę mi zajęło czasu zanim ją zidentyfikowałam. Nie jestem do końca pewna, czy prawidłowo. Wszelkie info o jej występowaniu wskazują na Stany Zjednoczone, Meksyk i ogólnie tamte rejony. A ja ją widziałam na południu Portugalii. Żadnych wzmianek o krajach europejskich jednak nie widziałam. Niech mnie ktoś zatem poprawi, jeśli to nie ona i zostawi jakieś linki do poczytania.

It is called Mint Moth because the caterpillars feed on mint. Pretty logic right? And yes - there is a lot of mind in that garden, so I guess they were not starving. It is a pretty little thing with such intense colours. I almost like it :)Dlaczego to ćma miętowa (Mint Moth - w moim wolnym tłumaczeniu :p). Ano dlatego, że ich gąsienice żywią się miętą. Logiczne, prawda? I owszem w pobliżu rośnie sporo mięty, więc z głodu nie padnie. W dodatku jest całkiem ładna z tymi kolorami. Prawie ją lubię :)

Very nice pictures you show us here. The small moth is widespread in Europe. However, I take Pyrausta aurata from your pictures.

Oh yes! That is more likely :)
Thanks very much!

#1 and #3 are awesome, I love this colour contrast very much.

Thanks! Still a nasty moth :p

they can be annoying, yes, but... nasty?! what do you mean?

They are just nasty! Evil, mean and vicious :p

vicious? toxic|? did they bite you?! maybe you have deprived them of their food?..

No, but I bet it would if I let her.
She probably has huge teeth hidden there somewhere and just waits for dumb human to come close to attack and carve the eyes out!
See? Vicious :)

hehe. lol.
