Good morning Steemians!
i woke up this morning, noticing someone had (again, this is not the first time) used (without asking), so let's call it stolen, my picture (of a friend I spraytanned, i took this picture myself, etc - i use it for promotional purposes on my Facebook page.
This is the Original picture.
The person that stole it, used it on her own professional page and instagram, claiming that she did that spraytan (with a totally different brand by the way), and later used it to enter a contest, and even won a prize with it :)
I really don't think it's ok to do that, so i commented on the post to take it down immediately, also contacted the person to remove all these images from her page... But no reaction so far.
Most of my pictures i use a watermark or logo on them, but they can easily cut that of...
Where do you stand when someone uses one of your pictures you have posted on social media?
I hope you all have a better morning than me :(
xoxo
Ugggh stuff like that sucks! Some people just have no decency. At least here on steem we can flag this behavior. I hope Instagram helps you take it down!
Thx! Yeah i hope so too!
Oh my, sad to see this but you should directly message to the people who stole your image and the host of the contest. That people doesn't deserve to win a contest with a stolen pic ;(.
I did that already... but the host of the contest isn't that fair either because they themselves used a picture of the brand we spray with as well, so i think they all went to my page and took what they liked... :(
I don't use instagram but, doesn't it have some function that can report it to get removed like facebook?
It does, but most of the times your request is not followed up... at facebook as well, you report it and you get 3 options: ask the person to remove it / don't follow the person anymore / block the person so you don't see his or her posts anymore.. so that's not really a solution...

You can take legal action. Even if you didn't officially copyright the image, I believe you can be awarded damages. Yes, use watermarks.
Did you report the post? You can also ask your friends to do the same, Facebook and Instagram are getting more serious about this lately...
Thanks!! Finally got them to take the pictures down!! 🙋🏽🙋🏽 Some threatening did it... they acted as if they really didn't know that wasn't allowed...
Nice :D
