Fort Boreman in West Virginia

in #photography7 years ago

If you have read my first post, you know by now that I like to frequent the local parks and forests around my home in West Virginia.

Fort Boreman has a ton of history as a Civil War Fort.

There is a nice short walk through the face of the hill overlooking Parkersburg, and parts of Belpre, OH. I like to take my son here because he can see the trains when they go by downtown.

This photo is of the staircase near the overlook.

One of the many views overlooking the two cities and the Ohio River. It was this view that made Fort Boreman such a strategic outpost as they were able to see any troops making their way in the surrounding areas.

Stones set up as stairs through the jungle, as my son calls it.

There are a few trails to take at the Fort. This photo was taken down another trail while we were taking a rest from the climb. Boy does he love to say "Cheese!"

The carvings go almost all the way up the tree, as a testament of how long this area has been visited.

Wow, it looks like you guys go on great adventures. I love it. I do the same with my boy and we travel a lot. He is not even two and has been so many places. I highly encourage this and it's great to see others doing the sam. Keep it up. Upvote and followed you

I highly recommend it as well. It helps build a bond and trust. Thank you for the upvote and follow. My girlfriend and I are planning a short trip to North Bend State Park here soon. We have been multiple times before but we are planning on camping this time around. Pictures definitely to follow.

I will keep a look out for those. Good luck and have fun

Thanks. I frequent the area a lot as it's close by. It's always so relaxing and there is a tiny play area for children and benches for a picnic.
