The Bridge of the Ottoman Empire

in #photography7 years ago

Stari Most

The Stari Most (old bridge) is one of most recognizable landmark in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is an amazing example of ancient Ottoman architecture in the Balkans.

It's located in the town of Mostar and crosses the river Neretva. Built around 1557, it took nine years to complete. It was bombed and destroyed on the 9th of November, 1993 during the Croat-Bosnian war. It was later reconstructed and rebuilt and was opened to the public again in July 2004.

Exploring the areas of the bridge, you can see unrestored buildings riddled with machine gun bullet holes. The tragedy that is the Balkan Wars is clearly visible even to this day.

Nice...

Your pic caught my eye @adonisabril but it was the info at the end of your post regarding how to succeed on steemit that I really appreciate. It's not easy to be a beginner around here so thanks for posting that info and trying to help the community.

No, it's not easy at all :) but if you invest and get some SP, it will get easier.

Nice long exposure! It's unfortunate that human aggression can destroy such beautiful things.

Interessting angle to shoot, especially with the little waterfall on the left hand

you'd be surprised it's not a waterfall :)

I like the perspective too. good photo

Beautiful photo

Whoa cool shot! Is that a long exposure with a mini water fall?

It's like a water runoff sewer like place, kind filthy but I excluded the filth out of the frame :)
