The Hohenzollern Bridge is a 409 meter long bridge that crosses the river Rhine in Cologne, Germany. With 1.200 trains crossing the bridge every day, it is the most heavily used railway bridge in Germany. Although the bridge was originally a railway and road bridge, it is now only accessible to rail and pedestrian traffic.
The bridge offers great views of the city of Cologne. Besides, it is a popular place for couples to hang their love padlock on the railings of the bridge. The tradition to hang a love padlock started in 2008. Up to now, more than 40.000 padlocks have been placed, adding around 40 tons of weight to the bridge. Because of the absurd amount of locks hanging on the railings of the bridge, the Hohenzollern Bridge has been dubbed as the "Love Lock Bridge".
