Exploring the black mountain

in #photography3 years ago

I briefly shared about our adventure in Montenegro in one of my previous posts, so let me expend it here and show you some more spots we've been to.

Shortly after we pass the border and arrive into Montenegro we encounter this magnificent canyon of Tara river, also known as "the tear of Europe". It is the second longest canyon in the world behind Colorado and a beautiful attraction to explore. The photo is taken from the Djurdjevica bridge which stands 172 meters above the river and offers a view of the turquoise, clear water, green nature and rocks around it. The canyon is a home for numerous rare animal species as well as herbs and trees dating back to ice age.
Unfortunately, we didn't get to explore the river via a popular rafting tour through many slopes and fast waters. Next time for sure.

Small place we stayed in is surrounded by mountains in the heart of Kotor bay. This gives it a more secluded, intimate look as opposed to an open sea. The water is darker as well due to the mountain reflections. Thus the only negative is that the sun sets faster in this corner of the sea, preventing the late evening swims in the sun.

Few kilometers down the road we do get to experience the later golden hour in the more open city of Perast. It's a small, peaceful place with mostly concrete beaches, restaurants along the coast and main square with the beautiful church of St. Nikola as the central spot. Old houses in stone, green window shutters and in general a mesmerizing baroque architecture teleport us back to old times of living.

Stray cats are a regular sight in the old towns. You can see them casually mingling with tourists and making them feel welcome as if they are spirits of people who used to live here. As a cat person myself, I didn't miss a chance to befriend the little fellas.

On our way back home the torrential downpour was following us around the serpentine road throughout the mountains. Intertwined with clouds and smoke, the scary mountain waved us a goodbye. Until next time.

The scenery is amazing, I really like nature especially in the middle of the forest. We will peacefully enjoy beautifully with the sound of various kinds of birds and the sound of running water.

I want to go there so bad! I had Kotor picked out specifically when I was looking at rooms. It looks like it would be worth the trip.
I am currently obsessed with Crna Gora's national anthem!

It's indeed a powerful anthem! :) And yes, I'm sure you would have a great time in the bay of Kotor!

Extremely beautiful!
The photos are so good that i felt like virtually exploring those magnificent places!
Thank you!!!

Thank you, Laura! :) Glad you were able to feel the atmosphere of the place through the photos!

Nisam bio u Crnoj Gori jedno 3-4 god. Čini mi se da ću na proleće isplanirati jednu turu da obnovim gradivo :)
