After shooting Clyde Arc Bridge I walked along Clyde river to the famous SEC Armadillo and SSE Hydro buildings. These buildings are true gems of Glasgow modern architecture and I wanted to create some very special composition with them.
I had following compositional thoughts:
Both buildings have very strong curved lines and I wanted to use them for very energetic and dynamic composition.
I decided to use long exposure to create streaks of blurred clouds in the sky and use it both as compositional elements and to add some more motion. To achieve long exposure I put on ND 5-stop filter.
I wanted these 2 building SEC Armadillo and SSE Hydro to interact with each other in the frame.
I tried many different variants and finally came with the composition above. What do you think?
Technical details:
Camera | Nikon d810 |
Lens | Nikkor 16-35 f/4 |
Settings | ISO 31, 29 mm, f/11, 61 seconds |
Other | Single shot, ND 5-stop filter |

A true civil work, really that in my country works are needed like this, I was in the faculty with engineers and I saw that the lack of preparation in each about to graduate was gigantic. It is a very nice photo, and at the same time it makes me a little sad to see that my country is far from being what the world is in terms of works and arts.
so nice and beautiful photography and great place thanks for sharing

Amazing work done, and this architecture is reflecting as an architecture of other world, i like the green effect of building in center part of building. Thanks for sharing.
Have a great day and stay blessed.
Excellent composition, @ansharphoto! May I have question? I just admire the good pictures, and I haven't got any professional knowledge on photography. I never see any human on your photos. Is it on purpose? I know you get up early in the morning for a good shot, but how you do this?
@gabeboy This is on purpose. I plan my photoshoot with the goal to avoid people. If it is not possible I use some techniques - like long exposure or multiple shots with subsequent blend in photoshop or just removing in photoshop using clone stamp.
It was clear that you are focusing on the structures, but I couldn't imagine how you can achieve this. Now it's clear! Thank you!
Beautiful shot. Sky looks fantastic. Architecture is amazing, I love everything about Scotland. :)
Can't wait to visit it.
Thank you for sharing technical details with us, it can really be helpful.
The lines on the building on the right side are leading to the second building. And long exposed clouds make these leading lines even stronger. Great composition indeed!
@dmytrokorol Thank you!
