The construction of the castle begins in 1869 and is completed in 1886 with serious expenditure. For exactly 17 years, Ludwig transferred all the resources of his country to construction. Ministers do not even care or challenge the demands of the establishment to limit its spending.
Eventually the king completes the stay of his dream, but he can only sit for 172 days. He is blamed by his ministers for his extravagance and contemptuous mood. In June 1886, a psychiatric committee formed, declaring Ludwig's mental illness. The King is sent to Berg Castle on Lake Starnberg, under strict supervision.
