California Sunsets #33 – More Seagulls

in #photography7 years ago

“Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky.”
-- Rabindranath Tagore, Stray Birds

Some say the reason why birds fly toward the sun at sunset is that they use the sunset to reset their internal compasses each day. I just know they always fly to Malibu.... must be the sushi... (that’s a whole blog on its own)

Taken today in the south of Santa Monica near Venice Beach (Lifeguard Tower 28).

It may be tempting to jump into the water in the second and swim to the hotel but knowing what that water is , rain and something else filled, if you ask me", I won't!
thanks for sharing these great shots.

Ah yes, you know that lagoon quite well. It almost looks clean until you see what has settled on the bottom.

That is a great shot of the Pico run-off! More like Pico Lake! Still see those birds are still following you around. Beautiful photos @armentor.

That is what us locals call it.. the notorious Pico runoff. it use to be a all year around runoff right into the ocean, thus contributing to all the pollution back in late 90's. They blocked it off and added a filtering so it is only open during hard rains. Rarely do I see it filled up like that. And yes, the seagulls keep following me. maybe they think I'm food!

You know what they say, if a bird bombs you, its good luck! So keep hanging around those birds! I remember those days when nobody swam in Santa Monica Bay because of the pollution.

I too remember those days, even when I moved here in the mid-90's. Thank god its much clearer now.

Well said. They use to call it the ghetto by the sea. Btw.. thanks man!

just beautiful, keep them comming!

Thank you!

Wow, very beautiful sunset photo @armentor, it's really cool. I really like to see the beauty of the sunset on the beach, I used to often enjoy the sunset on the beach, when I was living close to the beach. But now I have not seen that for a long time, because I have lived in the village, and very far away with the beach. Seeing the beauty of the sunset you share, reminds me of my past memories, and I missed it all. Thanks for sharing, and wish you a wonderful day... :)

If there is no sun whether the bird knows the direction that must pass through it

Thanks man!

I love your posts! Always bring me back to LA! :)
Nice memories ;)
