The Galapagos islands consists of 19 islands and many smaller islets that are located approximately 620 miles from the coast of Ecuador in the Pacific Ocean. The Galapagos islands is on a lot of peoples bucket lists for many reasons. Each island his its own unique ecosystem which includes barren rocks and white sandy beaches.
Below is a Galapagos Island Marine Iguana. This Iguana is unique to the Galapagos islands and has the ability to forage in the sea.
Below are giant tortoises that can live in excess of 170 years. When the island was discovered the Spanish named the island after the tortoises ("galapago" means "tortoise" in Spanish).
Below you will find the Galapagos Finche or Darwin's finches which are a group of about fifteen different species of passerine birds.
Next is my favorite which is the Galapagos penguin. This type of penguin is the worlds smalls and is the only penguin in the world that lives north of the equator.
Last but not least is the Galapagos fur seal. This is one of the smallest seals in the world and spends almost 70 percent if its time on the land. Which makes it one of the most land loving seals known to man.
Just look at how beautiful the Galapagos Islands are. Also checkout how big those tortoises are!
Check out this Iguana, he's just chilling in the water.
