Good afternoon steemiters, taking this opportunity, I want to congratulate everyone with 2018 Christmas holydays.
I am glad to wish y'all happiness and only good and well-being in your families.
I suggest you to get acquainted with someone interesting tradition that is probably presents in many Slavic countries.
According to this custom, at the night of January 6, the so-called kutia (supper) is supposed to be shared to your close relatives & friends.
It's a very simple dish. It includes such ingredients: rice - its main component, and in addition to it you need to add something sweet. Sweets can be chosen by everyone at their own discretion - it can be either jam or honey & even in combination with fresh pieces of fruit (orange, mandarin, plum, kiwi, or you can also add some nuts).
Its look like this tasty dish approximately as on my photo.
Here you can see my variant of boiled rice with fruity jam and pieces of mandarin and nuts.
So, having made this yummy, the parents allowed their childrens to go to visit relatives and friends to please them with this dish. And they, in turn, were glad top reward us with their hospitality and gifts.
Usually, this activity on the Christmas eve in the most cases is loved by children (grown-up people are not so willing) - they agree on a meeting at the agreed place on the street and then together several people begin to visit their relatives in the district.
However, it is not necessary to carry this regale only to your relatives.
Children understand this better than adults - and despite the prohibitions of parents, childrens are very happy to carry this kutia to the neighbors and even strangers. After all, in this case they are expected to get more gifts from these good strangers.
But not all foreign people open doors to such children this evening and most often the cause of this is hidden in their insolvent financial situation, poorness and shame for the fact, that they can not respond to this support of the spiritual value by thanking the children.
I remember in the childhood I was very offended by people who did not open the door to me - I thought then that they were very greedy. Although in fact there can be as many reasons as there are.
And not the holydays dish and gifts are the main thing in this tradition, I believe, but the manifestation of people the attention to each other and the kind human relations between each other.
