Modern Art In A Cuban Colonial Fortress: Havana (Daily Photo Journal)

in #photography8 years ago (edited)

Here is a picture that I really enjoyed because of the juxtaposition between the old and new. Cuba has a population of just over 11 million, but the amount of art, music, and film produced on the island is staggering. I would say they are the cultural superpower of Latin America. I really enjoyed seeing this tounge slide statue in the colonial fortress overlooking Havana. You get a sense of the two sides of the city, the old historical side along with the modern artistic side. This was taken right before the daily firing of the cannon that used to mark the shutting of Havana's gates.
