Memory Lane, because of the Rain

We are in fall here where I live and that means rain, and wind and changing colors. Well today is a rain day, yesterday was a rain and wind day. Hopefully we will have a sunny day soon. It is time for a trip into the mountains and Tern Lake, Moose Pass drive for fall picture taking.

One of the views from last year on the 13th which was a Sunday, not a Monday:

Here at Tern lake there is a pretty major pullout for RV's and trucks and people to take a gander at the lake and maybe catch sight of a couple of swans. Just prior to the roadside pullout there is a small almost hidden road to the campground/picnic area. It also happens to be where the outhouses are.

At the picnic area is a viewing deck to watch the salmon come into the lake for spawning or to finish spawning. The image above is looking south toward Moose pass, and the one below looking the opposite direction.

The wooden bridge into the picnic area, one of the reasons the area gets few visitors. A lot of people approach it in their RV's and decide to back out and away instead of continuing into the picnic area.

It is a pretty narrow and somewhat rickety looking, but it is stable and strong. This is the outlet or inlet if you prefer for Tern Lake, and the route the salmon take. It is pretty narrow and if timing is right you can see tons of salmon swimming about.

Well that is pretty much it for today, I would like to be there and taking pictures than sitting here and typing words, but maybe one day this week before all the leaves fall.

Wow, you have your leaves changing and ready to fall already. We don't get to that point till late October. You must have some LONG winters up there. Does it get very cold in the winter?

Yes the winters can be pretty cold at times. There are places that get a lot more snow than we do, but our snow doesn't melt very quick. We have had at least one day already below zero where the little pan of water for the birds froze over last week.

Fall is one of our shortest season, and it is not hard to miss the color changes, we might have another week, but by Mid October there wont be many leaves left on the trees.

God bless ya. The older I get the less tolerant I seem to be of the cold weather. Maybe someday in the not too distant future we'll be moving further south, or maybe just pack it all in and sell everything and go nomadic. Then I can just go where the weather suits my clothes, haha ;)

I thought the heat in California was going to kill me when we moved there for a little while, we ended up moving back to Alaska, I guess for me even though I do not like the cold, it seems to be more tolerable than the excessive heat.

Such beauty! Makes me think about how the seasons come and go so quickly. The waters flow and clouds blow as we humans come and go. Nature remains.

I hope to make it back up there this year for some new views.

Nice and peaceful 🙃

One of the quieter camping spots because of that bridge.

That first photo is absolutely breathtaking @bashadow! I can just imagine it belonging in a book! How serene you must have felt looking out on Tern Lake! 💖

I think the small bridge scares a lot of people off so it does not get real crowded there. I think the most we have seen there at one time was 5 cars.
